In a recent incident that has sparked controversy, Accuracy In Media (AIM), a conservative media watchdog, publicly confronted Ian Golash, a teacher at Chief Sealth International High School in Seattle, over allegations of antisemitism.

The organization displayed a mobile billboard outside the school, highlighting the teacher's controversial statements and actions.

Golash, who serves as the chair of the social studies department and teaches Ethnic Studies World History, has been accused of making antisemitic comments, displaying images of terrorists in his classroom, and expressing support for Hamas. His actions have drawn criticism from students, with one stating, "I don't like it, honestly. How has he not been fired yet? Like, I've read his posts. He's antisemitic."

The confrontation between AIM and Golash occurred when the teacher, accompanied by his class, approached the mobile billboard. The billboard displayed some of Golash's controversial comments, calling out his alleged antisemitism. This move was consistent with Golash's previous actions, such as leading student protesters into the King County Jail during the 2020 George Floyd riots and attempting to block news cameras.

During the confrontation, AIM questioned Golash about a post he made, which stated that oppressors don't get to choose the form of resistance used against them. This was in reference to the rape, torture, and massacre of women at the Nova Music Festival on October 7. Golash confirmed the statement, and when asked if the attacks on Israel on the same day were justified, he responded affirmatively.

Golash, who represents the school in the Seattle Education Association teachers' union, also defended the union's recent pro-Hamas resolution. This stance is in stark contrast to testimonies from released hostages held by Hamas, UN reports, and intelligence from Israeli and American agencies confirming the sexual violence at the massacre.

Following the October 7 attacks, Golash made a series of posts on social media, questioning the evidence of Hamas's atrocities and blaming Israel for the violence. He also identified himself as a communist and made controversial statements about America being an oppressor state.

Golash's controversial views and actions have not been limited to his classroom. He has been arrested multiple times in Oregon and Washington for assault, violating parole, and criminal harassment. He has also made anti-police posts, stating that all cops are bastards. This sentiment extends to the police officers who saved civilians during the 9/11 attacks.

Despite the controversy surrounding Golash, the Seattle Public Schools has not taken any action against him. The school's principal, Ray Garcia Morales, sent an email to parents in December stating that they were looking into the situation, but no action was taken. According to a student, the district previously sent out a statement saying that Golash would not be fired.

The American Jewish Committee released a statement on Monday criticizing Seattle Public Schools for not taking action when Golash's comments were first revealed in December. The organization condemned Golash's inflammatory comments about Israel and his justification of Hamas's acts of barbarism.

Seattle Public Schools responded to the controversy by stating that they do not tolerate antisemitic, Islamophobic, or any kind of hate speech or acts in their schools or offices. They described the conversation between an Accuracy in Media member and Golash as deeply concerning and stated that they are conducting an immediate investigation to determine the facts.

Golash has previously been exposed for bringing his radical ideology into the classroom. He gave a failing grade to a student who stated that only women can conceive a child and that only men have penises. A parent also filed a complaint alleging that Golash told a student that being "straight" was offensive.

In response to the recent controversy, Golash doubled down on his statements in a lengthy Facebook post, which appears to have been deleted. He claimed that the oppression of trans people is rooted in patriarchy, the privileging and empowerment of men, and the oppression of women.
