In a recent development, former President Donald Trump has proposed the White House as the potential location for a debate with President Joe Biden, stating that he "would be very comfortable" with such a setting.

This comes as Trump, the likely Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, continues to face a criminal trial in a Manhattan courtroom.

Trump has consistently expressed his willingness to engage in a debate with Biden, asserting that he is prepared to do so "anywhere, anytime, anyplace." This assertion was made even more poignant as he spent his eighth day in court.

President Biden, who had previously remained silent on the matter, finally addressed the topic of a potential debate with his 2024 opponent. During a radio interview with Howard Stern on Friday, Biden confirmed that he would be "happy" to debate Trump. "I am, somewhere, I don’t know when," Biden stated, responding to Stern's uncertainty about his participation in a debate.

Following Biden's interview, Trump took to his Truth Social account to extend an invitation to Biden for a debate at the courthouse in Lower Manhattan. Trump's post read, "In the alternative, he’s in New York City today, although probably doesn’t know it, and so am I, stuck in one of the many Court cases that he instigated as ELECTION INTERFERENCE AGAINST A POLITICAL OPPONENT - A CONTINUING WITCH HUNT! It’s the only way he thinks he can win. In fact, let’s do the Debate at the Courthouse tonight - on National Television, I'll wait around!"

After the court proceedings on Friday, Trump reflected on the day's testimonies. He criticized the Democrats, accusing them of orchestrating the trial as a strategy to win the upcoming election. However, he expressed confidence in his poll numbers, stating, "But I doubt it because the poll numbers are very good for us."

Trump confirmed to reporters that he had invited Biden to a debate, emphasizing his readiness to engage at any time, including that very night. He reiterated his invitation for a debate at the courthouse, characterizing the ongoing trial as a "well-coordinated attack on a political opponent."

Trump also expressed his willingness to hold the debate on any day of the week, including Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. He criticized Biden's impact on Michigan, attributing the state's decline to Biden's "ridiculous electric vehicle mandate" which he claimed was causing auto jobs to move to China.

The former President further suggested the White House as a potential location for the debate, stating, "That would be very comfortable, actually. You tell me where. We're ready."

Trump expressed skepticism about Biden's willingness to participate in a debate, stating, "But he won't debate. I don't think he'll debate. Maybe he will. Maybe he will. I'm not sure he has a choice."

Earlier this month, the Trump campaign had called for additional 2024 presidential debates and proposed that they be scheduled "much earlier" than initially suggested by the debate commission. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to debating President Biden "anytime, anywhere, anyplace."

President Biden, on the other hand, had not previously committed to a debate with his potential opponent. When questioned last month about the possibility of a debate with the former president, Biden stated that his decision would depend on Trump’s "behavior."

Earlier this year, Biden responded to Trump's calls for earlier debates, stating, "If I were him, I would want to debate me, too." He added, "He’s got nothing else to do," when asked about Trump's eagerness to debate him earlier in the election cycle.
