Dr. Connor Bowman, a former Mayo Clinic physician, is facing murder charges following the suspicious death of his wife, pharmacist Betty Bowman.

The 31-year-old doctor is alleged to have poisoned his wife, leading to her death from organ failure on August 20 in Rochester, Minnesota. The charges were filed after Betty, 32, was reportedly administered a drug typically used to treat gout.

A recently released search warrant, obtained by KAAL TV, reveals that Bowman had been active on the dating app Bumble around the time of his wife's death. The warrant indicates that investigators are seeking access to Bowman's conversations on the app, as well as details regarding when he altered his marital status on his profile.

Bowman's phone records reveal that he had searched for the gender-neutral/masculine term for "widow" on August 18, just two days prior to Betty's death. According to the documents, at least one woman he matched with on Bumble later informed the police that his profile identified him as a widower. However, it remains unclear when this change to his dating profile was made.

The warrant also suggests that Bowman, a poison specialist, provided varying accounts of his wife's death to different women he interacted with on the dating app in the weeks following her demise. One woman, who matched with Bowman on September 5, reported that she had questioned him about the appropriateness of flirting with others so soon after his wife's death.

In response, Bowman allegedly stated that he was comfortable being with a new person and that he knew what he wanted in life. He added that Betty would have wanted him to move on and find happiness. He reportedly told this woman that his wife had died from listeria poisoning earlier in the summer.

Another woman claimed that Bowman led her to believe that Betty had died a year prior due to a morphine overdose while on comfort care. Yet another woman, who matched with Bowman nine days after Betty's death, found it odd that he mentioned a large life insurance payout he had received and used to settle his student loan debt.

Bowman was arrested in October and subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder in connection with his wife's death. Betty, who also worked at the Mayo Clinic, was admitted to the hospital with symptoms akin to food poisoning, including gastrointestinal distress and dehydration. Her condition rapidly worsened, leading to heart complications, fluid buildup in her lungs, and the removal of part of her colon before her death from organ failure.

Postmortem toxicology reports revealed the presence of the drug colchicine in her system the day after she was hospitalized. Following her death, Bowman allegedly attempted to dissuade the medical examiner's office from performing an autopsy and pushed for immediate cremation, asserting that her death was "natural."

In Betty's obituary, Bowman mentioned that she had suffered from hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare condition where the immune system attacks the body's organs. A friend of Betty's later informed the police that the couple's marriage was on the rocks due to infidelity and other issues.

Friends of the couple alleged that they were in an open relationship, but Bowman had formed an emotional bond with another woman, prompting Betty to consider divorce. Bowman, currently held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on a $2 million bail, is set to appear in court on June 11.
