Creator and actress Mindy Kaling probably did not expect to make history negatively when she began to work on creating the cartoon show “Velma” about the famous Scooby-Doo character.

The Daily Wire reports that her HBO show has bombed in the reviews left of it on the movie review website Rotten Tomatoes. It even made the top three worst-rated shows of all time on IMDB.

The show aired only four episodes but has more than 41,000 1-star reviews on IMDB. Meanwhile, it has only about 1,688 10-star reviews on IMDB at the time of this writing. On aggregate, this has caused the show to have a rating of only 1.3 on average of all reviewers on IMDB.

The Daily Wire reports that the only two shows with worse ratings than “Velma” are “The Pogmentary” and “Iste Bu Benim Maslim.”

The negative comments left about the show are all over the map, but they all agree that the show completely misses the mark. Many point out that Kaling appears to have gone wholly woke and is overly fixated on sex, race, and gender. Others pointed out how far removed “Velma” is from the original Scooby-Doo show.

Ironically, the Daily Wire reports that the attempts that Kaling might have made to go full woke seem to have also missed the mark. There were complaints by some that she appeared to have the undertones of racism and sexism in her show as well.

One review of the show reads as follows: “The jokes aren’t funny. It’s not cool. It’s not hip. It’s the opposite. It’s majorly offensive. Offensive for two reasons,” That same reviewer continued to say:

“One for how terrible it is, and it is bottom of the barrel terrible, and two for its obvious sexism and racism. What an absolute insult to anyone with half a shred of respectability. I’m just staggered that this even exists.”

One highly-ranked review of the show points out how odd it is that there are so many sexual aspects of the show. They don’t appreciate the bizarre undertones that are a part of the show, and they say that it is a strange twist on a kid’s show that many people liked from the past. Now, they feel that “Velma” has stolen some of the joy of that show away.
