A Florida woman has had some bad luck with storm drains.

This is because the New York Times reports that Lyndsey Kennedy, the Florida woman in question, has been pulled from a storm drain for the third time in the last two years.

Delray Beach Police Department said that first responders received a report of a woman possibly in distress at the 500 block of Lindell Boulevard at approximately noon on Wednesday. The first responders were able to find the woman, and they asked her if she needed any help.

According to their reports, she ignored their questions and climbed into the storm drain pipe. Delray Police say that she refused to come back out on her accord. Instead, she proceeded to climb further into the pipe than she was before.

The New York Post says that first responders could keep her located between two sets of pipes while the Delray Beach Fire Rescue Special Operations Team responded to the incident. They were eventually able to pull her out of the storm drain. Kennedy was said to have minor injuries and was transported to the hospital to have those injuries looked at.

The police department in the area says that they have been called out before, in March 2021, to help the same woman with the same issue. She appears to want to climb into those storm drains no matter what.

During the March 2021 incident, Kennedy was rescued from the storm drains when someone from the neighborhood called 911 to report that they heard a woman yelling in distress at the corner of West Atlantic Avenue and SW 11th Avenue. She said she had stopped walking in that area because she could see the light and people walking past her.

Kennedy, who was 43 then, said she had begun walking the sewer system for approximately three weeks. She also stated that she had lived off of an unopened can of ginger ale that she found while looking for a way out of the drainage system.

The New York Post reports that Delray Police reported that Kennedy appeared coherent and didn’t need to be Baker Acted. Being Baker Acted means being involuntarily admitted to a mental hospital. The local Police do not believe that Kennedy needed to have that happen when they made contact with her.
