An armed criminal picked the wrong person to try to commit their criminal activity against on a Chicago train recently, according to the Blaze.

The criminal approached an individual on a Chicago train this past Friday and attempted to mug them. However, the victim they selected was a concealed firearm carrier, and the criminal got more than anticipated.

Authorities told WMAQ-TV that a 33-year-old suspect approached a 25-year-old victim and got shot himself. The suspect approached the Chicago Transit Authority Green Line train at approximately 5 PM Chicago time.

The victim holds a concealed carry license and a Firearms Owner’s Identification Card, allowing him to carry a concealed firearm in Chicago legally. He pulled out his weapon and shot the suspect, according to a report by authorities in the area.

WMAQ pointed out that the suspect fired his weapon as well but that the victim was the only one who got a shot that made contact. The victim shot the suspect in the leg, but the victim was unharmed in a physical sense by this situation.

The local station continued by saying that police arrested Darius Moss on two felonies: armed robbery with a firearm and being a habitual armed criminal. Moss went to the hospital following the shooting. The hospital reports him as in fair condition, according to WMAQ’s reporting.

Their report stated that Moss would report to Central Bond Court on Monday to get a bond hearing in this case.

CWB Chicago reports that this is not the first time Moss has been in trouble with the law. They say that he was charged with misdemeanor theft in 2021 after a Dunkin’ Donuts employee called law enforcement at around 3:20 AM on August 16, saying that they believed someone had stolen the cash register at that location. The media outlet states that law enforcement received footage of the area and found a man walking away with a cash register.

In recent years, Moss has involvement in many incidents with the law. But it seems he selected the wrong victim to mess with in this case. Now, he faces injuries because of his alleged actions.
