The Guardian reports that former President Donald Trump hit the campaign trail in his bid for the 2024 presidential election.

Governor Ron DeSantis is preparing his bid for the White House in Florida.

With DeSantis making moves in the Sunshine State, Trump made his moves with subtle attacks against DeSantis while attending events over the weekend in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Trump said, “Ron would have not been governor if it wasn’t for me...when I hear he might run, I consider that very disloyal.”

DeSantis began h his journey as the governor of Florida while standing in Trump’s shadow. DeSantis is currently the most powerful political rival Trump has in the Republican party. DeSantis continues to increase his popularity with party officials, especially those party members who are wary of the types of negative issues associated with Trump when he was in office.

According to a report by the Washington Post, DeSantis’s political team is already on the hunt for potential campaign hires in early-voting states, such as New Hampshire and Iowa.

Two experienced members of DeSantis’s current team have had conversations with the governor about the possibility of being put in senior roles for the 2024 campaign. Phil Cox and Generra Peck are the two DeSantis has talked to.

Republican Bill Bowen, a New Hampshire delegate, told the paper, “I’m convinced there’s a good network of establishment party people in New Hampshire that will quickly have a very effective DeSantis campaign.”

Within the Republican party, DeSantis has carved out a piece of turf that invites opposition to Trump.

Trump had responded to a presidential bid by DeSantis by issuing threats, such as the perceived warning last November when Trump hinted at political blackmail against a potential 2024 run by DeSantis.

In a statement to Fox News, Trump said, “I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly...I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering - I know more about him than anybody - other than, perhaps, his wife.
