This comes as there has been a slew of controversies and issues with classified documents in the homes of both Pence and Trump. Additionally, classified documents have been found in the Delaware home of President Biden and at a location where he hosts a think tank in Washington, D.C.
This is a similar request to Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky. made requesting visitor logs for the home of President Biden. He made this request after the classified documents were found in Biden’s home.
Raskin made a statement about why he is doing what he is doing by saying: “Just last week, news reports revealed that attorneys for former Vice President Pence discovered approximately a dozen documents with classified markings at his home in Carmel, Indiana.”

He wrote the following in his letter to the Secret Service: “Given that the U.S. Secret Service provided protection for Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence during the time they stored classified materials at their respective residences, the Committee is seeking information from your agency regarding who had access to former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and former Vice President Pence’s personal residence since leaving office,”

He noted that the House Oversight Committee has the authority to investigate such matters. He recognized that Democrats have been investigating former President Trump’s dealings with classified documents for some time. This is important because both parties appear to be playing a tick-for-tac game.

The letter that Raskin submitted requested that visitor logs for who went to or from Trump’s Mar-A-Lago residence and Pence’s home in Indiana from January 21, 2021, to the present.
This seems to be quite an extensive request, and some wonder if the request might be overly broad for the former President and Vice-President to grant at this time.
