A substitute teacher at King Middle School in Portland was removed and banned from teaching again after parents discovered that the teacher shared inappropriate and sexualized TikTok videos with students.

The Maine Wire reports that the principal of the school made a statement via e-mail about the situation by saying the following:

“On Thursday I was made aware of concerns that students were accessing videos late Wednesday on TikTok.”

The e-mail continued:

“As a result of our investigation the employee will not return to King's,”

The substitute teacher was a transgender individual who went by the name of Lydia Lamere. There are other names that Lamere has gone by in the past, though, including Chris Lamere, Lydia Moon, Clodagh Moon, and Clodagh Lamere. The teacher has identified as non-binary, as a transgender woman, and as a transgender lesbian at different times.

It is unclear at that time which name was used when applying to King Middle School. This matters because the name given would have been used to conduct a required background check before the education of students in the system could begin.

School officials are unclear exactly how Lamere came to get the TikTok videos out to students, but the Maine Wire reports that at least one student said that the teacher wrote the TikTok handle on the whiteboard and asked the students to check it out.

The principal of the school continued in his e-mail by saying:

“As the day unfolded, it became apparent that a lot of students were talking about the TikTok account.”

The posts that students accessed have now been taken off of TikTok, but school officials could download those videos before they were deleted.

One video students are talking about shows Lamere posing in only a towel and looking into the mirror seductively. According to those complaining, this video was inappropriate for schoolchildren to see.

Many of the posts from this teacher across all kinds of social media indicate that the teacher frequently posts content about sexuality, gender, and other similar topics. Many posts would be viewed as highly controversial by certain people who do not necessarily agree with the viewpoints expressed by people such as Lamere. It is indeed a challenging situation for the school, but it is also bad for parents trying to raise their children in a manner they agree with.
