The 46-year-old, Nathan Chasing Horse, was arrested Tuesday near the two-story home he shares with his five wives in Las Vegas.SWAT officers were at his home while detectives searched the property.
Chasing Horse gained a reputation as a medicine man, performing healing ceremonies and attending spiritual gatherings throughout the United States and Canada. His arrest resulted from an investigation that lasted several months after authorities received a tip last October.
According to the Daily Mail, Chasing Horse’s arrest warrant says, “Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions.” The warrant added that his followers called him a “Medicine Man” or “Holy Person.” They had faith in him that he could communicate with higher beings.

Because of the trust bestowed upon him, authorities believe it enabled him to use his position to lead a cult known as The Circle and use it to sexually abuse girls as young as 13 years old. Authorities identified six victims. According to the warrant, Chasing Horse not only sexually assaulted his victims but also made recordings of the abuse.

In addition to Nevada, where Chasing Horse has lived for 10 years, Montana and South Dakota include states where allegations have been made against him. He has been accused of offering young indigenous girls to other men for sex in exchange for payment, effectively prostituting them.

Born on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, Chasing Horse is a member of the Sicangu Sioux tribe of the Lakota Nation. The Circle cult’s followers offered their daughters for him to wed. One of his five wives was allegedly given to him as a gift when she was just 15 years old. He married another once she turned 16.

This is not the first time Chasing Horse has been in legal trouble. In 2018, he allegedly committed the crime of human trafficking, leading to his banishment from the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana.
His first film was Dances with Wolves, followed by Into the West, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, and several other made-for-television movies. The Oscar-award-winning actor has certainly brought shame on himself and the roles he played.
