Former Acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller said that China must be laughing at the United States as some senior Pentagon officials seem very caught up in the culture wars right now instead of focusing on combat readiness.

Miller spoke with Fox News Digital and told the media outlet that he is concerned about how ready the military might or might not be, considering how entangled many in the upper ranks of the military seem to be with some of the culture war issues are raging throughout the country. He stated the following:

“Hardly anybody joins the military to be part of the culture wars.”

and

“They join the military because they want to serve their country and, if necessary, defend our country in real war — not culture war.”

Miller said that his frustration with how the military works now is with the upper-ranking members. He believes that they are driving many policy changes that are making the military far less able to adapt to the changing culture of how wars are waged today. It is essential to ensure our country is ready to take on the challenges coming our way, but so many people need to prepare for the way that the country might have to defend itself in the future.

Miller stated the following about what China must think about what the United States is doing:

“The Chinese must be laughing hysterically as our political system and as our senior officials and senior leaders in the Pentagon get caught up in it.”

He said that the obsession with race, gender identity, and other diversity issues is making the United States military less ready to handle the challenges.

Miller said the following about what he thinks is likely the case when it comes to the Chinese military and their opinion of what the United States has done:

“I just have to think the Chinese are laughing as we basically consume ourselves in these silly political fights within our military.”

He continued by adding:

“It is probably one of the few places in America where if you work hard and you do your job, you will be rewarded, you will receive benefits, you will get promoted if that’s what you want.”

It is something that members of our military are very concerned about what our military is doing now.
