The family of Anthony Lowe is looking for justice after he was shot and killed by police.

Fox 11 reports that Lowe was armed with a knife at the time when police from Huntington Park shot him to death on Slauson Avenue.

On January 26th, the Huntington Park police responded to a stabbing call. When they arrived, officers found Lowe armed with a knife. Lowe is a double-amputee who lives his life in a wheelchair. As police attempted to detain Lowe, they used a taser on the double amputee twice. FOX 11 obtained cell phone videos from the scene on January 30th showing the moment when police drew their firearms on the man.

In the video, police pull up to Lowe, and they say he dismounted from his wheelchair and allegedly stabbed someone unprovoked. The police say that left the victim in critical condition in the hospital.

Fox 11 reports that officers said Lowe threatened to attack them and stab them with the knife he was carrying. At that point, officers shot and killed Lowe, according to their reports. The family disagrees and says that Lowe had his back facing the officers and that, given his double amputee status, he could not be a threat to the officers.

This situation comes just days after Memphis Police made national headlines for all of the wrong reasons when they were pressured to release a police camera video of the police beating Tyre Nichols, an unarmed black man who died in the hospital just days after officers beat him in that video.
