The Senate has installed a closed captioning system to aid Senator Fetterman as he continues to recover from a stroke.

The New York Post reports that this is the latest technology that Fetterman is using to try to contend with the lingering impacts of his stroke.

This new piece of technology has come into play even though the Senate has strict rules that ban the use of most technologies on the floor. This includes banning the use of cellphones and other standard electronic devices on the floor of the Senate. However, they appear poised to make notable exceptions for Fetterman.

The New York Post reports that Fetterman has been given several exceptions to help him cope with the after-effects of a stroke. The Senate is willing to bend the rules for this specific Senator. Some are pointing the finger and saying that they knew this was precisely the kind of thing that would happen if Fetterman was elected. They knew that it was possible that he would require several exceptions for himself to be able to manage his duties.

Senate Sergeant at Arms Karen Gibson told Time Magazine the following:

“I am proud of the work our team has done to support Senator Fetterman and am grateful to the many Sergeant at Arms professionals who worked quickly to develop and implement these innovative solutions.”

Fetterman has had some speech difficulties and other issues related to his stroke. It became a significant issue in the 2022 campaign when he struggled with delivering a speech or arguing in a debate. However, in the Pennsylvania election, Fetterman emerged as the victor over Dr. Mehmet Oz. Now, the Senator is using special devices to help him do his duties in the Senate every day.
