He was caught delivering kilos of cocaine and was on the clock.
Zarwardy Lewis, 35, was the letter carrier delivering the packages. He was charged with drug distribution after the Inspector General declared that he delivered three packages of cocaine in the area during December.
According to NY Post, “The probe began after authorities searched a package originating from the Caribbean destined for Bedford-Stuyvesant and found that it contained about two kilograms of cocaine, Special Agent Kyle Knieste said in court papers.”

The package had a street value of about $60,000. Then, authorities discovered two other packages from the same address were delivered to addresses in the area. Lewis delivered both of those packages while working his route.

Court documents point out that when he delivered the packages, he received $500 from a woman via an electronic payment. He received these payments from Evangeline Nery. Then, investigators continued to look into Lewis. According to the NY Post, “Investigators began conducting surveillance on Lewis and witnessed him making another alleged cocaine drop from his mail truck at Atlantic Terminal mall in Fort Greene on January 26, Knieste wrote.”

This alleged drop involved him handling an empty bag and then Nery retrieving that bag from his truck, which was full of something that looked like a brick. Investigators then seized Nery’s phone, revealing text messages, package photos, and more evidence to slam Lewis with. They were both arrested and charged but posted bail and were released within a day.
News sources attempted to reach Nery and Lewis’ lawyers for comment but were unable to.
