According to CBS News, Paez has been charged with first-degree solicitation of murder and third-degree use of a communications device for an unlawful purpose.
The arrest came after Paez visited a website called RentAHitman.com, which offers fake assassins for hire. The website claims to provide "expertly trained field operatives" who offer consultations to help clients find solutions for their unique situations. Paez allegedly contacted the website and requested a hitman to carry out the unthinkable act of killing her own child. She even provided photos of her son and the exact location where she wanted the murder to take place.
The owner of the website, Robert Innes, became suspicious of Paez's request and immediately notified the Miami-Dade police. Innes stated, "The ability to research names and addresses and verify the intended target lived in a particular address. That, to me, is a red flag. If that information is corroborated, to me, that is something that needs to be looked at, and that’s why I referred it."

Police quickly traced the IP address used to make the murder-for-hire request and posed as the hired hitman to contact Paez. According to arrest documents, Paez agreed to pay $3,000 for the hitman to carry out the heinous act. She even provided a fake name for herself and a safe word, "put me in coach."

When questioned by authorities, Paez allegedly expressed her desire to have her child killed "to get something done once and for all." She requested that her son be taken away and possibly killed as soon as possible.

Detectives followed the address provided by Paez and found the young boy and his grandmother. The grandmother confirmed that her daughter had moved out in May and had been living with the child's father ever since. The toddler had been residing with his grandmother, and the mother would have daily video conferences with her son. The grandmother identified the child in the photos provided by Paez.

Paez was subsequently arrested at her father's house and reportedly confessed to the crime, according to the police report.
