Kate Gosselin has responded to accusations made by her ex-husband Jon and their son Collin, with Kate claiming that Collin is "a very troubled young man."
Collin has previously accused his mother of abusing him when he was younger, alleging that she sent him away from home at the age of 12 after claiming he had been diagnosed with a behavioral disorder. In a statement to People magazine, Kate said, "I have never wanted to have to do this, but I feel I have been backed into a corner and left with no choice. Although it saddens me to do so, I need to speak out now."

Kate went on to explain that Collin has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years and that his safety and the well-being of the rest of the family led to his placement in a facility. She stated that the decision to admit him was made by emergency room doctors following one of his violent outbursts, which involved the use of a weapon. Kate also claimed that Collin's perception of reality is distorted and that fabrications are not uncommon when dealing with mental health issues.

"All measures that were taken in our home were at the explicit recommendation of his pediatric psychiatrist and/or his team of specialists and were put into place to safeguard every member of our family, our friends as well as our family pets," Kate added.

Kate expressed her belief that Collin remains troubled and in need of help, which is why he has had limited contact with his siblings and herself. She acknowledged the accuracy of a recent social media post by Collin's sister Mady, in which Mady detailed the family's history of violence and threats.

Jon, in response to Kate's statement, shared with Fox News Digital that Kate has made "cruel false allegations" against their son. He accused Kate of attacking Collin publicly and claimed that Collin had been cleared by the Marines with a full background check, including mental, physical, and medical clearance. Jon also mentioned that a judge had awarded him sole legal and physical custody of Collin.
