Hillary Clinton took to Twitter on Tuesday to criticize "MAGA Republicans" for the recent heat wave affecting communities across the country.

Her tweet was in response to a post from the left-wing think tank Center for American Progress, which accused Republicans of exacerbating the climate crisis. The tweet included media stories highlighting the high temperatures and mentioned that Republicans had voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, a $739 billion climate package passed by Democrats and signed into law by President Biden in 2022.

"Hot enough for you? Thank a MAGA Republican. Or better yet, vote them out of office," Clinton tweeted.

Clinton's tweet comes at a time when the country is experiencing above-average summer temperatures. While Democrats attribute these extreme weather events to climate change, some climate experts, like Ryan Maue, former top climate scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, argue that heat waves are not a new phenomenon.

"Without climate change, July's summer heat in the U.S. Southwest would have been 'virtually impossible,'" Maue tweeted. "I guess that's true if you forget about 1925, 1930s, 1950s, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2012, 2020, etc. and the rest of the almanac."

Maue also pointed out that Clinton's tweet came just eight days after a New York Times editorial calling for the politicization of weather.

According to the FOX Forecast Center, this week is expected to be the hottest of the summer, with an upper air pattern shift bringing dangerous heat and humidity to the East Coast. Approximately 75% of the country will experience above-average temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday, affecting more than 260 million Americans, excluding the Pacific Northwest and parts of the northern Rockies.

While millions of Americans are under Excessive Heat Warnings or Heat Advisories, record-breaking temperatures are not anticipated.
