Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) took a jab at President Joe Biden following his recent freeze-up incident.

McConnell revealed that Biden had called to check on him, and he used the opportunity to playfully troll the president. "The president called to check on me. I told him I got sandbagged," McConnell shared. "Gotta watch those sandbags!"

The reference to sandbags harks back to a frightening moment last month when Biden stumbled on stage after delivering a speech at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony. As he walked away from the lectern, Biden tripped over sandbags that were holding a teleprompter in place. Fortunately, Biden emerged from the fall unharmed.

The cause of McConnell's freeze-up during a press conference remains unclear. CNN's chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, suggested that McConnell "clearly had some kind of neurological event." However, McConnell did not disclose whether he had consulted a doctor or provide any further details about the incident. When asked about his condition, McConnell simply assured reporters, "I'm fine," while his office declined to offer additional information.

In a surprising revelation, NBC News reported that McConnell had experienced a frightening fall less than two weeks ago. On July 14, McConnell allegedly fell on his face while disembarking from a plane. This incident had not been previously disclosed, and McConnell reportedly did not sustain any injuries. It is worth noting that McConnell had also fallen during a visit to Finland in February, according to CNN.

While McConnell's office had previously disclosed only one fall, which occurred in March and resulted in hospitalization and treatment for a concussion, NBC News revealed that McConnell has recently been using a wheelchair to navigate airports. McConnell, who is 81 years old and has served in the U.S. Senate for nearly four decades, appears to be taking precautions to ensure his safety during travel.
