Multiple explosive devices believed to be connected to an ongoing drug turf war caused a series of explosions and a massive fire in a homeless encampment outside Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday morning.

The incident put the hospital at risk, with debris reportedly impacting the building.

According to a police report obtained by The Post Millennial, the explosion was a targeted attack on a fentanyl tent within the encampment. The tent was being used by approximately 20 individuals for drug consumption. A witness stated that he saw the devices minutes before the explosion and alerted those inside.

In response, everyone inside the tent quickly exited by lifting the other side of the structure to escape. The witness also reported hearing gunshots and seeing flashing lights from the northeast, prompting him to attempt an exit to the south. However, he encountered another improvised explosive device (IED) south of the structure and heard someone yelling that the suspect was shooting at them.

Survivors of the incident informed investigators that the former leader of the encampment, known as "Coconut," had recently been replaced. In retaliation, Coconut returned to the encampment armed with a firearm. He allegedly shot at both the "old smoking tent" and the "new smoking tent," holding the occupants at gunpoint and robbing them of their belongings.

Court filings reveal that Coconut, identified as Michael Bonito Poasa, 55, has connections to drug trafficking operations in the area. Poasa, described as a Pacific Islander/Asian male in his 50s with cornrow-style braids and graying hair, was previously convicted of first-degree arson in 2020 and domestic violence in 2004. He was also a possible suspect in an arson case in 2020. Poasa is associated with a short white female with tan skin, known as "Monkey," who has been identified as 39-year-old Michelle Desire Alojosin.

Witnesses reported that Coconut had been teaching people in the encampment how to make IEDs using plastic buckets. One witness observed the buckets placed around the tent, with closed lids and a white and green wire protruding from the top, attached to a plastic bag.

Another witness mentioned ongoing conflicts over the theft of $80,000 worth of fentanyl from "The Asians" by one of the traffickers in the encampment. This theft allegedly led to a price being placed on the thief's head. The witness believed that the fire and explosion were acts of retaliation for the recent shooting death of an individual named "Foolish."

Graffiti vandal Cain Casey, also known as Eagr, was severely injured in the fire. Casey, who had recently been released from jail and was awaiting charges for causing over $200,000 in vandalism damage, is notorious in the area.

Despite the destruction of the encampment in the fire, individuals were already attempting to rebuild it just a few days later. Tents, gas cans, propane, and even video cameras to monitor the drug tents were being brought in.

Earlier this year, another drug camp nearby caught fire, and officers discovered large sums of cash, drugs, and guns inside a similar tent used for drug consumption.

The encampments are located on property belonging to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Last year, Washington State awarded the King County Regional Homelessness Authority $50 million to address the issue of homelessness in the area.

However, during the tenure of former CEO Marc Dones, who was a self-described "luxury communist" and defund the police activist, more homeless people died than were housed. Despite resigning from the agency in disgrace, Dones was recently hired by the city of Seattle to assist with the homeless issue, earning $250 an hour.

The explosions on Friday shed light on Washington's fentanyl crisis, which has been spiraling out of control while elected officials fail to take action. Senator Maria Cantwell, who has been absent during the crisis and is up for re-election, hosted a roundtable discussion on the issue with local leaders who have either failed to act or advocated for policies that enable drug use.

The Seattle City Council has not criminalized open-air drug use and possession, effectively making drugs de facto legal. Additionally, King County has a poor track record of prosecuting drug-related crimes, while officials like Representative Pramila Jayapal continue to advocate for open borders.

Overdose deaths in Washington State have already surpassed last year's numbers, with 524 deaths recorded so far in 2023 compared to a total of 1,000 in 2022. The state is experiencing the largest spike in overdose deaths among all states in the US.
