Republicans have come under fire from former Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, for their role in America's economic decline.

Haley specifically pointed to the growing federal debt as a major concern.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives recently passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act, with a vote of 314-117. The legislation, a result of negotiations between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden, aims to freeze discretionary spending on non-defense budgetary items at fiscal year 2022 levels. It also includes reforms to permitting for energy projects and introduces new work requirements for certain welfare programs.

While some conservatives, such as Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, criticized the deal for not including enough spending cuts, others, like former Trump administration official Larry Kudlow, praised it as a victory.

Speaking at a Lincoln Day dinner in Iowa, Haley expressed her concern about the dire state of the country's finances. "We are $32 trillion dollars in debt. We're having to borrow money just to make our interest payments," she said. "I would love to say Biden did that to us, but I've always spoken hard truths, and I'm gonna do that with you today. Our Republicans did that to us, too."

Haley also criticized House Republicans for reinstating earmarks, highlighting the funding of various pork projects while many American families struggle to pay their utility bills.

This is not the first time Haley has voiced her concerns about the Republican party. During a CNN Town Hall on June 4, she criticized former President Donald Trump and Governor DeSantis for their failure to address Social Security reform. Haley accused them of "continuing to kick the can" on this important issue. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the Social Security trust fund is expected to be depleted by 2033.

Haley's remarks shed light on the urgent need for Republicans to address the country's economic challenges and take responsibility for their role in the growing federal debt.
