A shocking incident unfolded at a San Diego skate park when a pair of skateboarders allegedly assaulted a dog trainer, leaving him unconscious.

The motive behind the attack? The skaters claimed it was their "day to be there."

According to a report from the San Diego Crime Stoppers, the incident occurred on June 21. The dog trainer, identified as Jay, was at the park with a client, a friend, and the client's dog when they were approached by a group of skaters.

The report states that approximately 100 to 200 skateboarders had gathered at the park for "Skate Day." One skateboarder and his friend confronted Jay and the client, demanding that they leave because it was supposedly the skateboarders' designated day at the park.

San Diego Police Officer Mark Herring provided further details, stating, "A skateboarder and his friend walked up to Jay and the client and told them 'to leave the park because it was the skateboarders' day to be there.'"

Jay, in an attempt to reason with the skaters, expressed his belief that the park was meant to be shared. "I was just kind of trying to defend myself," Jay said. "There is a whole park here. We can share this space."

However, the situation quickly escalated as the skaters began to intimidate Jay and the client by skating aggressively close to them and their dog. In a desperate attempt to escape, Jay was struck on the back of his head with a skateboard, rendering him unconscious. Recounting the incident, Jay said, "I tried to shove my way out. After that, they smacked me over the back of my head with a skateboard. It was free for all."

Jay, who identifies as transgender, revealed that while the attack was not directly provoked by his lifestyle, the assailants resorted to using slurs in an attempt to insult him.

Fortunately, park rangers arrived promptly to assist Jay after the assault. However, the two suspects managed to flee the scene before the police arrived. Jay was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
