Elon Musk, in his efforts to revamp the company formerly known as Twitter, made a bold move by installing a massive "X" logo on the roof of its headquarters in San Francisco.

However, this action has not come without controversy. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the appearance of the metal "X" on top of the social media company's building, citing a lack of proper permission.

According to city officials, obtaining a permit is necessary for any changes to letters, symbols, or signs on buildings to ensure compliance with design and safety regulations. The alteration was made without following these protocols, leading to the investigation.

The controversy surrounding the logo began when workers attempted to remove Twitter's iconic bird and logo from the building's side. San Francisco police intervened, citing safety concerns for pedestrians due to the lack of proper sidewalk precautions. Patrick Hannan, a spokesperson for the Department of Building Inspection, emphasized the need for permits to ensure consistency with the building's historic nature and safe attachment of any replacement letters or symbols.

Musk, undeterred by the investigation, took to social media to share a video of X's headquarters with the new "X" logo on top of the building. In the video, he also expressed his thoughts on companies leaving San Francisco.

The rebranding of Twitter to X has elicited mixed reactions from users and analysts. Additionally, the new name and logo may face trademark issues with other companies.
