During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, host Joe Rogan engaged in a conversation with comedian Jim Gaffigan about the events that unfolded on January 6, 2021, at the US Capitol.

Rogan expressed his belief that it is plausible for intelligence agencies to incite individuals to enter the Capitol, referring to these agencies as the "deep state" with "unchecked power."

Gaffigan questioned Rogan about his thoughts on Ray Epps, a man who has been accused by many of being an undercover agent. Rogan responded by highlighting the fact that while numerous individuals involved in the Capitol breach were arrested, Epps remained untouched.

He also pointed out that major publications such as The New York Times and The Washington Post defended Epps against accusations of instigating the events of that day, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Rogan acknowledged that there are speculations that Epps may have been fed information, as some of the people present at the Capitol referred to him as a "fed."

Rogan further elaborated on the presence of agents provocateurs, citing reports that suggest there were "hundreds of agents" involved in such activities. He acknowledged that he cannot confirm the veracity of these reports, but emphasized that the use of agent provocateurs to disrupt peaceful protests is a common tactic employed by government agencies. Rogan cited the example of the World Trade Organization protest in Seattle in 1999, where provocateurs allegedly engaged in destructive acts to delegitimize the peaceful protest and justify police intervention.

Gaffigan attempted to dismiss these claims as conspiracy theories targeting Trump, but Rogan countered by asserting that such tactics are standard, especially when someone is seen as an enemy by intelligence agencies. He specifically pointed to Trump's open and brazen criticism of these agencies, which he believes posed a threat to their power.

Rogan emphasized that the deep state represents unchecked power and that Trump's disdain for intelligence agencies was well-known. He also stated that it is not uncommon for intelligence agencies in the United States to employ or encourage the use of agent provocateurs.

In a separate development, former President Donald Trump's attorneys recently met with Special Counsel Jack Smith to discuss potential charges related to the January 6 riots. Trump had received a letter from Smith earlier this month, informing him that he is a target of the grand jury investigation into the events of that day.

The conversation between Rogan and Gaffigan sheds light on the ongoing debate surrounding the events of January 6 and the role of intelligence agencies.

While Rogan presents his perspective on the use of agent provocateurs and the deep state, Gaffigan challenges these claims, highlighting the historical tensions between presidents and intelligence agencies. As the investigation into the Capitol breach continues, the discussion surrounding the involvement of intelligence agencies and the actions of individuals like Ray Epps remains a topic of interest and speculation.
