Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy asserted on Wednesday that he is the ideal candidate to unite the country while advancing the policies championed by former President Donald Trump.

In an interview with "Special Report" host Bret Baier, Ramaswamy expressed his admiration for Trump, stating, "I personally think Donald Trump was an excellent president. I think that his defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2016 was probably the single most important political event in the 21st century in this country."

However, Ramaswamy believes that he is better positioned than Trump to further the America First agenda. He acknowledged that some individuals become "psychiatrically ill" when Trump is in the White House, but he does not blame Trump for this. Ramaswamy argued that as a relatively new face in politics, he has not faced the same level of pushback despite advocating for similar policies, making him more capable of uniting the country.

While Ramaswamy acknowledged that both Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could potentially defeat President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, he maintained that he is the only candidate who could secure a Reagan-like landslide victory for the GOP.

He emphasized that his campaign is not just about running away from something, but rather about leading the country towards a vision of what it means to be an American. Ramaswamy highlighted his appeal to young voters, stating, "I am the youngest person ever to run in the Republican Party. But I think it's more than just my age. I think it's about having...bringing young people along with us in droves in this campaign."

Ramaswamy also highlighted the support his campaign has received from first-time GOP donors, with 40% of his campaign's donors being first-time contributors to the party. He contrasted this with the 2% of donors who typically support other candidates. Ramaswamy emphasized that his leadership would be guided by moral foundations rather than vengeance or grievance.
