President Joe Biden journeyed to Syracuse, New York on Thursday to discuss the CHIPS and Science Act, amidst a backdrop of a slowing economy.

His comments on the state of the economy were made as the GDP growth rate for the first quarter of 2024 was reported to be a mere 1.6%.

Following his visit to Syracuse, where he unveiled a $6 billion investment in semiconductor manufacturer Micron, the President is scheduled to attend a celebrity fundraiser in Westchester County. This comes in stark contrast to former President Trump's recent engagement with New York union workers at a construction site, where he commended their diligent efforts.

The difference in their engagements was not lost on one New York union worker, who had a strong message for President Biden, stating, “F*ck you!”

During his speech, President Biden made a personal connection to the daily fears faced by the families of police officers. He said, “Every time a police officer puts on that shield every morning, their husband or wife, whatever it is, or child, worries about will they get that phone call. I got one of those phone calls.”

However, critics argue that the President's personal experiences of loss - his wife and daughter in a car accident and his son to brain cancer - are not comparable to the unique tragedy of a police officer losing their life in the line of duty. They argue that the President's attempt to equate these experiences is a display of narcissism.
