Destination America Investigating 'Haunted Towns' in New Series (Exclusive)

Written by

Discovery Communications-owned cable network Destination America has greenlighted a new series about a ghost-hunting team who investigates the most haunted towns in America.

Following on the success of its series Ghosts of Shepherdstown, Destination America has ordered eight episodes of Haunted Towns, starring the Tennessee Wraith Chasers, who also were featured in the network's Ghost Asylum.

They will explore "places that played key roles in the darker chapters of American history, where battle, disaster and injustice have condemned unsettled spirits to every street corner." That includes places like infamous hotspots Gettysburg and Salem as well as small towns at the center of legendary ghost stories.

The Tennessee Wraith Chasers consist of Chris, Doogie, Porter and Brannon, who interview witnesses, investigate hotspots using the latest ghost-hunting technology and follow new leads until they can pinpoint who is haunting the town and why. Their goal is to find out if there is any truth to the stories about each town's paranormal activity.

Destination America has ordered eight episodes of the series, which is set to premiere at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15.

"Haunted Towns is about so much more than ghost stories. It's about places of deep historical significance, where stories of hauntings are passed down over generations.
