In a recent revelation that has sparked controversy, it has been disclosed that the legal team of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, had a meeting with the White House just days before Hunter Biden disregarded a congressional subpoena.

Critics argue that this raises significant concerns about potential coordination between the two parties.

The meeting, which took place at 6 p.m. on December 11, 2023, in the East Wing of the White House, involved Abbe Lowell, Hunter Biden's high-profile attorney, and Anthony Bernal, a senior aide to First Lady Jill Biden, according to White House visitor logs. The logs also indicate that President Biden met with Lowell, although it is believed that this encounter was likely in the context of a White House Hanukkah reception held on the same day.

This meeting occurred just two days prior to Hunter Biden's defiance of a House subpoena for a transcribed interview. His unexpected declaration of innocence at an impromptu press conference caused a stir at the Capitol. Subsequently, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre acknowledged that President Biden had been "familiar" with what his son intended to say. Two months later, Hunter Biden finally admitted to House investigators.

Interestingly, a month before his meeting with Lowell, Bernal was also subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee as part of their investigation into President Biden's alleged mishandling of classified documents. The committee identified Bernal as someone who had accessed classified material at the Penn Biden Center before the documents were officially discovered there in November 2022.

Bernal, who has been with Jill Biden since 2008 and is informally known as her "work husband," has become a notorious figure in the White House, where rumors of bullying and sexual harassment have circulated for years. His close relationship with the first family has seemingly rendered him untouchable.

The extent of any coordination between Hunter Biden and the White House has remained a mystery. However, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky) has called for transparency. He stated, "We've called on the White House to provide information about whether President Biden sought to influence or obstruct our investigation by preventing, discouraging, or dissuading his son from complying with the subpoenas for a deposition as part of the House of Representatives' impeachment inquiry, but the White House has refused to provide any information."

Jean-Pierre has consistently avoided questions on this topic. When asked about President Biden's role in his son's legal defense in January, she responded, "He's a private citizen. He's not a member of the White House. He doesn't work here." Representatives for the White House have insisted that both of Bernal's meetings were related to his attendance at the Hanukkah reception and that no matters concerning Hunter Biden were discussed.
