American Warships Fire Warning Shots At Iranian Vessels

Written by  Seth Connell

On Sunday, American naval vessels fired warning shots at Iranian vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, two U.S. Defense officials told Reuters on Monday.

The Iranian ships allegedly closed in at a high rate of speed, and the American vessels were forced to fire warning shots to deter the attack boats from coming any closer.

The boats made five passes near the American ships, according to CNN.

Yahoo! News has more:

The incident, which occurred Sunday and was first reported by Reuters, comes as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office on Jan. 20. In September, Trump vowed that any Iranian vessels that harass the U.S. Navy in the Gulf would be “shot out of the water.”

The officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the USS Mahan established radio communication with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats but they did not respond to requests to slow down and continued asking the Mahan questions.

The Navy destroyer fired warning flares and a U.S. Navy helicopter also dropped a smoke float before the warning shots were fired.

The Iranian vessels came within 900 yards (800 meters) of the Mahan, which was escorting two other U.S. military ships, they said.

If those boats are armed and make provocative moves against our ships, open fire and sink a few of them. They will soon get the message. I don't know if our destroyers are armed with mini guns or not, but if they have them, those mini guns will make hamburger out of those boats. Again, one or two shot out of the water and Iran will run for cover. If Iran decides not to quit this crap, then bring on the fight. Sabre rattling can get you just so far, then it's time to fish or cut bait.....

We need to stop playing the RED Line game and putt'm on notice, As Reagan did, any threats will be met with FORCE. We've gone through this before, remember the Cole? A little boat, innocently got beside the ship and with a couple hundred pounds of explosives , Blew a Hole on the side ,Killing a couple of sailors. Irians will get no special treatment , they're Muslim stooges in W.H. are packing, will be out in a matter of days. Playing "Chicken" ,with a Warship, will not be tolerated.

Don't let the small boat size play you. Don't you think the Iranians are using the smaller boats to provoke us? And the they'll say we attacked "fishing boats" or some such nonsense. It's just like them hiding behind women and children when hey fire at our soldiers. There could be weapons on board those boats that could cause serious damage if they were to get too close to one of our ships. Don't be so naïve.

Warning shots are warning shots. It's all fun and games until somebody gets sunk.

Provoking America under obama has been allowed until recently after Trump's election, so I guess obama wants war before the inaugaration so that it cn fall on Trump's watch. Obama is an evil man who follows the guidance of the devil himself, BUT GOD....amen

Attacking American ships in international waters is an act of war. History repeats itself.
When Thomas Jefferson was inaugurated in March of 1801, he inherited troubled relations with the Barbary states — the Ottoman Regencies of Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli, along with independent Morocco. The United States had treaties with all four, but tension was high and rising.
American representatives in the region wanted an American naval presence. They regularly, if less eloquently, echoed the 1793 view of their colleague in Lisbon: “When we can appear in the Ports of the various Powers, or on the Coast, of Barbary, with Ships of such force as to convince those nations that We are able to protect our trade, and to compel them if necessary to keep faith with Us, then, and not before, We may probably secure a large share of the Meditn trade, which would largely and speedily compensate the U. S. for the Cost of a maritime force amply sufficient to keep all those Pirates in Awe, and also make it their interest to keep faith.”1 The new president was fully aware of the situation.

If that is a picture of the Iranian vessels, I wouldn't call them ships, those are boats, which granted could of don't some damage. Glad no one was hurt (on our ships)

Can't they shoot any better than that? Any perceived threat should be removed.
