Army general calls for up to 20,000 more troops in Afghanistan

Written by  Fox News

Gen. Jack Keane, former vice chief of staff of the U.S. Army, called the United States’ 16-year-long involvement in Afghanistan a “disgrace” and said some 10,000 to 20,000 additional troops were needed to win the war.

Keane spoke with Fox News on Friday as reports surfaced the Pentagon will send roughly 4,000 additional American forces to fight a reinvigorated Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has not made an announcement on increasing troop levels in Afghanistan, but a Trump administration official told the Associated Press such an announcement could come as early as next week.

Keane said the 4,000 figure is “only speculation at this point” and not enough to defeat the Taliban and boost the Afghan Army’s military might.

“There’s no doubt the 4,000 will be helpful,” he said. “But the real question is: Will it change the momentum of the war to our favor? My judgment is it’s likely not to.”

The administration official told the AP that the bulk of the additional troops will train and advise Afghan forces, while a smaller number would assist in counterterrorism operations against the Taliban and the Islamic State.

The Pentagon, meanwhile, told Fox News early Friday that no final determination has been made about sending additional troops.

20,000 is hardly enough.

The US lost the war when it allowed its "boots on the ground" The Taliban, to escape to Pakistan through the Tora Bora caves, and thereafter continued to foment Sunni Islam elsewhere in close alliance with Pakistan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia and, followed through by distracting global anger o over 9/11 and its own resources (Three Trillion Dollars, 5,000 new Head Stones at Arlington and enough war wonded to bankrupt the Veterans' Administration) to Iraq. It is now being ground down to the pleasure of Islam and China.

Remember that the Taliban are students of the Quran and the Haditsh generated in Mosques and Madrassas funded with Petro Dollars all over the World who were trained to practice Islam (i.e. Jeehad) in the US-Pakistan academy of guerrila warfare "Al Qaeda" (the Base) to throw the now defunct Soviet Union out of Afghanistan and then to carry out CIA devised regime changes in states to which they brought Islam. From Yugoslavia to India, Libya, Balochistan, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere. .

To end this scourge before matters get worse to impossible, Trump needs to walk his pre election talk. Junk Pakistan, the Tent of Saud and China. Cozy up with India, Russia and Iran. Help build a supply route to Central Asia through Chabahar in Iran to rival the Sino-Pakistan Gwadar artery to by pass their area denial of Afghanistan to the US, Hand over Afghanistan to India for Peace Keeping and development, and concentrate on the Pacific with Europe amicably in step with both the US and Russia.

The moment for putting an end to the Islamic Empire is almost lost thanks to the machinations of the "Washington Establishment" which is in lock step with the war mongering US "Intelligence". This is nothing but the US-NATO-Sunni Axis forged by Nixon, Kissinger and Yamani that has run global public opinion, wars, terror, and contraband trade in drugs, women, arms and minerals from the Oval Office ever since.

So, what did we learn after loosing in Vietnam? Lost a lot of US lives. Damaged a far more number of American lives; many still suffering. And now???? We sell Pepsi in Vietnam. Bottom line - come home, this needs to be India, Pakistan and Tukey's problem. It's the septic system in their own back yard. They need to clean up their own stink or decide to just wallow in their own $hit. We have enough to deal with here at home in the good 'ole USA.

Hasn't the Afghan army learned anything yet? Why the fk is there this constant talk about "training and advising"? It's been 16 fkg years for fk's sake! Are they that stupid? Besides the billions the US sent to Afghanistan that have been stolen by Karzai and his cronies and nothing getting to the people that needed it, this news is the most enraging.

What is needed is to get together will all of our friends in the World and if they want to win there how much money and personnel do they want to contribute to the cause? Then go in with thousands of personnel and let the enemy know that they are all going to die! Then kill them all, if there Mothers are there cooking for them and they have their wives there also they may also die! Time to win this war or get the hell out!

This war is not winnable. We have lost too much in the Arab world. There is nothing there that we want and the more we get involved the more the militants want to kill us.

Get all of our troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq and wish those countries well. Help them in non military ways.

Bush the younger's decision the attack Iraq was the dumbest decision any president has made and Obama's support of the Arab Spring
was misguided.

There should only be two choices, either get it done by killing all of the enemy, or get the hell out...period! Pussyfooting around to feed the banker's should never be an option...but yet that is exactly what the political class has done since Korea...enriching the banker's & their selves'....

Sending in more troops would be a mistake. This is how Vietnam got rampoed up into a meat grinder. There is a way to deal with this problem if you have the spine. First, cut off all monetary aid to that part of the world. Why should we be sending monetary aid to countries that want to see the USA destroyed? Remove our troops so that the Muslims don't have a common enemy to use for unification. Place the area on watch and observe. The next time things get out of hand in that part of the world, target and then crater the areas of hostility until the message has been understood: 'Extremism will result in no half measures taken."

I think that is the perfect route to take. They hate us already and blame us for all their woes....let's just subtract our troops...and money.. Sure, we might help with some "safe" spaces for them..over there.
