Exclusive: Conservatives launch war on Southern Poverty Law Center, promotes 'terrorism'

Written by

A coalition of conservative groups whose advocacy has been labeled "hate" by the leftist media-darling Southern Poverty Law Center are launching a counteroffensive Monday, accusing it of fueling hate, killing free speech and even encouraging terrorist-style attacks on those it doesn't agree with.

The effort, which includes a video and planned Monday tweetstorm, takes aim at SPLC's so-called "hate map" which identifies groups it says promotes hate and extremism. It includes groups like the Ku Klux Klan, but also conservative nonprofits that promote traditional marriage, enforcement of immigration laws, and other policies it doesn't agree with.

The campaign, revealed to Secrets, is being led by the Washington-based Family Research Council, the social conservative policy giant whose entrance guard was shot in 2012 by a man inspired by SPLC's hate map that listed FRC as an anti-gay "hate" group.

"Despite SPLC's baggage — which also includes connections to two liberal gunmen – they continue to be cited as a credible source by mainstream media and others. With SPLC in the spotlight, we must expose this organization for what it really is – a left wing smear group who has become exactly what they set out to fight, spreading hate and putting targets on people's backs," said a note to supporters from FRC, which also noted the support for the SPLC of the gunman who shot up a GOP congressional baseball practice, seriously injuring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

Honoring and believing the Bible as the inerrant and infallible word of God is one test if a group is truthful. [Of course there are other secular tests.]

Richard Cohen and the SPLC are the worst of the worst bigots. They really are animals. *THEY* are the ones advocating sexism, racism, and bigotry and should be shunned by any ethical people. Their behavior has been egregious. They are a hate group.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has a history of engaging in hate activities, using racist tactics to attack persons and organizations that support and spread accurate information, and which support the historical, American family. The SPLC is an insult to the State of Alabama, the entire southern United States and all attorneys at law who use their profession to seek social equity and justice within the judicial system of the USA.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has been a racist/leftist/Democrat Party tool from its inception. It is finally being recognized for what it is and someone is doing something about it.

This is long overdue.

It's amazing how destructive and divided our two party system has become. We haven't been this divided since the Civil War and it looks like we're heading back there. It's shameful we've lost sight of what our country was founded on.

"We" haven´t lost sight. "We" haven´t had control of the USA since evil foreigners overtook the leadership and began to erode morality and Christianity.

I do believe that religion has been holding the world back for a thousand years and now that an open forum education is available without religion being forced on them most have a different outlook about religion.
I do think that is why the last poll said only 29% were into religion and only 60% said they attended church at least once a year and that included marriages and funerals. why do you think the churches are being closed and attendance is at a all time low, the majority do not wan their lives controlled by religion like some third world country. The SPLC has it right and will continue. Most religions in this country go against the Constitution which says all religions or no religion has a right to worship here without the interferrence of others meaning religions. Most of the Founders wanted nothing to do with Christianity, they were Deist, not Christians, and for anyone to put forth that Thomas Jefferson, or Ben Franklin was a Christian is so stupid it hurts, http://www.worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/Reading/Religion/Jefferson.htm if you do not believe the link go to his museum and look at his bible whwere he cut everything out of the bible that referenced Jesus.

WTF? How does religion have anything to do with the FRC challenging the SPLC? I realize that the SPLC has gone after religious targets in the past; the SPLC is a thoroughly partisan enterprise and religion has been a fairly easy target. But where's the connection?

The SPLC is not just nasty. They are evil and should be annihilated. BTW, I have no religious affiliation.

This is the absolute DUMBEST posting I have ever read. The composer is "rewriting history" to fit his narrative. The SPLC is absolute EVIL and is a hate-mongering, racist-baiting group of the first degree. Every rationale, peace loving person, whether Democrat or Republican, must acknowledge that the SPLC is the worst when it comes to fostering hatred, destruction, and even murder, to satisfy its need, and the SPLC should rightfully be labelled a DOMESTIC TERRORIST organization. One of the writers in this thread said the SPLC is an embarrassment to Alabama; this is TRUE, and Alabama should start doing something about it!

In fact, Jefferson WAS devoted to the teachings of Jesus Christ. But he didn’t always agree with how they were interpreted by biblical sources, including the writers of the four Gospels, whom he considered to be untrustworthy correspondents. So Jefferson created his own gospel by taking a sharp instrument, perhaps a penknife, to existing copies of the New Testament and pasting up his own account of Christ’s philosophy, distinguishing it from what he called “the corruption of schismatizing followers.”
