Tebow’s Chances to Make Majors? Hall of Fame Voting Member: ‘Don’t Put Anything Past the Wilpons’

Written by  Michael Morris

On Sports Center live discussing Major League Baseball two days ago, Baseball Hall of Fame voting member and Baseball Writers Association of America member Pedro Gomez said about famed Christian athlete Tim Tebow’s chances of making the majors, “Don’t put anything past the Wilpons.

“If it’s, let’s say, September 5, September 10, the Mets are 20 games behind the Nationals, looking at sagging attendance, we know that a guy like Tim Tebow with a home series – let’s say a six, seven game homestand – would definitely boost gate sales,” said Pedro Gomez. “Don’t put anything past the Wilpons when it comes to them overruling the baseball operations people and saying, ‘No, we’re going to do this.’”

New York Mets GM Sandy Alderson, on Friday, said he doesn’t envision calling Tim Tebow up in September when rosters expand to 40 players in the Major League.

“‘Never crossed my mind until about 10 days ago when somebody said it was likely to happen,’ Alderson told reporters Friday,” reported ESPN. “‘I don't foresee that kind of scenario.’”

But the New York Mets Front Office, headed up by Fred Wilpon and Jeff Wilpon, might be calling the shots, reports ESPN.
