Poll: Americans Optimistic About Economy, Career, Finances

Written by  Melanie Arter

(CNSNews.com) - According to a new poll by Bloomberg, 58 percent of Americans believe that they are moving closer to where they hope to be financially and in their career, whereas only 27 percent believe the opposite-- the lowest percentage in the five years that this survey has been conducted.

The poll’s other results also demonstrate a new wave of economic optimism under President Trump. Eighty-one percent of those surveyed said they expect their household income to stay the same or rise this year, and 78 percent believe their overall financial security will remain about the same or improve. Additionally, Bloomberg’s survey found that 54 percent of Americans believe that President Trump will “create trade deals with other countries that are more beneficial to the U.S.” Sixty-six percent also think the president will continue to “make significant cuts in government regulation.” While the poll found that a majority of Americans are confident regarding economic matters, 40 percent approve of President Trump’s overall job performance. Forty-six percent remain confident in the president’s ability to manage the economy, and 47 approve of his work thus far creating jobs. J. Ann Selzer, the pollster who oversaw Bloomberg’s latest survey, noticed a disconnect between Americans’ confidence in the economy and in the president.
