Trump: If We Have to Close Down Our Government, We're Building That Wall'

Written by  Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - "We are building a wall on the southern border, which is absolutely necessary," President Trump told a rally in Phoenix Tuesday night.

The crowd erupted in chants of "built that wall.

"

"Build that wall," Trump continued:

Now the obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it, but believe me, if we have to close down our government, we're building that wall. Let me be very clear to Democrats in Congress, who oppose a border wall and stand in the way of border security -- you are putting all of America's safety at risk. You're doing that. You're doing that.

Again, the Border Patrol today, I said, how important is the wall to some of the folks? I met with a lot of them. And they looked at me, they said, 'It's vital." It's vital. It's so vital.' And you know, we have walls -- I don't know if you know, we're already starting to fix a lot of the walls we already have. 'Cause we don't have to rebuild them. And we want walls that you can see through in a sense, you want to see what's on the other side. But we're starting to fix a lot of walls, we've done a lot of work.

if the government shuts down I don't think the house or senate should be paid or receive any benefits during the closure. Our President isn't playing games, the H & S are most of them being demo=rats, and a few republicans that have been paid to swap sides, They won't be working so why should they get paid? The H & S members already get more pay then they deserve and lots of benefits, they just want more for their pockets. They were all given a raise not long again and it was posted on the internet, they should not get another raise. There are many companies now don't even give a yearly raise, just a 90 one if they keep you on. Therefore no cost of living and bills just keep going up, rent, utilities, phones etc, There have been many walls built that have worked wonders throughout the world, and Mexico wall needs repairs and additions to it, needs to be longer. maybe we can get all those illegals to build it, or those thata have worked against our country, or maybe there ratio's using their negative energy for something positive, after all it will protect them too. FREE LABOR......

Would hope that the pay checks of the senate & house politicians would be included in the shut-down? And a shut-down would not be "in his own selfish interest' as some moron liberal has written; but in the interest of the Americans that voted to return America to being a viable country again after 8 miserable years of socialist & un-American mis-management.

I would have added "No retroactive pay" this time, to apply more pressure on Congress to approve the budget faster.

As Trump is prone to doing, he contradicts himself in one sentence. How is he going to build a wall if the government is shut down? Once again he proves that he doesn't give a damn about America. He'd shut down the government in an attempt to get his own way for his own selfish interests. The man is scary.

If they can't pass the budget because democrats are obstructing the wall, it will shut down. When the budget is passed, it will re-open.

I do suppose that Trump thinks he can go around Congress. Congress can pass a budget and if Trump vetos it they can over ride the veto, because just as many Republicans in Congress think it is a huge waste of money, wall only stop a few the others find another way, it has been that way through out the centuries and it will stay that way, every country in the world has illegal persons there and they do the same as the USA as soon as thye find them they deport them. Israel is supposed to have the most secure wall in the world and look at how many illegals there is there, no wall will stop illegal immigration never has and never will, but the money spent oin such walls is just wasted tax payer money. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_immigration_from_Africa_to_Israel

just remember all the Border Patrol, Military and Federal Agencies do not get paid during a shut down, I do suppose that would make you very happy, I know from human nature that persons are less interested in doing their jobs when they are not getting paid and that includes the Border Patrol.

You don't seem to be paying attention. Walls have been working for at least fifteen thousand years to keep people out of cities, castles, kingdoms, homes, countries (Google is your friend). Do you not even remember the Berlin WALL? It worked WELL. How about the DMZ between North and South Korea? You also seem to not have noticed that millions of ILLEGAL aliens are destroying our health and welfare system by overwhelming it (and you must have noticed that that was exactly as PLANNED, right). I recommend doing your homework instead of just carrying your books to school. It will help you to"connect the dots" (hint: there are only TWO of them) and not look so silly in public.

Are you saying that we can not protect our southern border? The national sovereignty of a country is the most important thing a country can have because without borders, there is no country. We spend, as a nation, 90 Billion a year because of illegal immigration, why would it not be wise to spend say 10 Billion to secure our border with Mexico ?

Wrong again, Webster.

Add the Secret Service to your list of folks who don't work well when no getting paid. Trump has run the S.S. completely out of their yearly allotment in six months.
Building a "wall" is pure extravagantly expensive folly. Too many infrastructure rebuild and repair projects to do in our country where that money is really needed.

Only 20 percent of the government will do without work or pay many people don't get it.

Too much lame stream media for you. SS has had this same budget problem for over a decade. Do a little research on your own before reposting media lies please.

I can think of one Gov. employee that wants to work for free but is forced to take a paycheck. He donates full proceeds right back to the gov coffers. Wonder who that is?

YOu don't seem to be paying attention. Where is Donnie going to build HIS wall? Not practical to build it right down the middle of the Rio Grande river. You know that Mexico is not going to let him build it on their side of the border.....which runs down the middle of the Rio Grande. And Donnie isn't going to build it on our side of the border and cede the Rio Grande to Mexico. How's he going to handle that little aspect?

It would not be wise because there is no surety that a wall would secure our border with Mexico. It would be another billion dollar(I think that's a VERY conservative figure) boondoggle just like the multi-trillion dollar "war on drugs" has been.
I'll tell you one thing for certain. If, somehow, the government kept all illegals from the south out of the country, you'd have to take out a mortgage on your house in order to afford produce at the market.
