Donald Trump Tweets: A Government Shutdown is Needed to ‘fix this mess’

Written by  Washington Times

President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday that perhaps a future government shutdown would be good for the country.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 2, 2017

Mr. Trump tweeted: “The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We…” he continued, “either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good “shutdown” in September to fix mess!”

The president was reacting to the less-than-enthusiastic reaction from Republicans over the bipartisan spending bill congressional leaders reached this week.

The deal includes funding for Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities, which many Republicans are not pleased with. It does, however, include increased funding for border security, something Republicans requested.

In all good faith to the American people President Trump should/must veto this abomination of a bill. If it results in a temporary Govt. shut down so be it. It will certainly remind Congress that they work for "We The People", the very people who elected President Trump to bring common sense back.
And perhaps the best thing is it should bring about the removal of Paul Ryan as the Speaker Of The House Of Representatives.

A 'shutdown' is not a shutdown at all. Maybe the Repubs should do a 'reconciliation' like obammy the klown got for 7 years running.. And then use it to undo all things 'the klown'.. Then return the unused part (according to the budget the repuns and trump try to get) and call it a "Surplus, first one in history". And proclaim the deficit has been reduced some $1.1 Trillion.. Then mock the helll out of the overspending irresponsible America destroying demoncrats..

He's right. we need to dump a lot of the social programs that drain this nation's resources. There's too much "feel good" crap that accomplishes nothing.

Shut it down I am sick and tired of these idiots in congress maybe if they had to use Oboma Care they would do something why is it they vote on these things but it doesn't include them. Just like all of the ballots we had to stop AIG from going under that is where their retirement money is for them. They don't give a crap about us

Ryan is lying about how good the budget is. They really think we are stupid. They are almost half right. Look how many voted for Democrats and RINOs.

Don't you understand, people, if he vetos the budget bill it becomes his shutdown of the government and the majority of the voters in the country will be angry at him and the Republican congress.
It is his watch now and people are closely following what happens (that is the people who can think for themselves and not follow the conservative mantra that all things bad in this world are because of liberal Democrats).
Mr Trump is running the government now and all the problems fall at his feet and are due to his lack of knowledge about how the constitution of the US works. Sorry but it is his responsibility for any problems now.
He needs to grow up and work the system.

Well William, if it was not for Liberals in the Senate we would have a balanced budget and less spending. If you knew what the Constitution says is that the budget has to path BOTH houses of congress before Trump gets it. ENOUGH pork project deal making it's time to cut the Government to bare bones and start paying back the debt. Easy ... stop spending on stupid programs.

Not me, this falls squarely on the heads of the Democrat Party. These obstructionists are angry because their "trough" isn't being filled. They can't run back to the "pork barrel" and retrieve what they want.

Sorry, but this is entirely their fault.
