ICE-led Gang Surge Nets 1,378 Arrested Nationwide

Written by  ICE.gov

A six-week nationwide gang operation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) concluded this weekend with 1,378 arrests across the United States – the largest gang surge conducted by HSI to date.

The operation targeted gang members and associates involved in transnational criminal activity, including drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, human smuggling and sex trafficking, murder and racketeering.

Of the 1,378 total arrested, 1,098 were arrested on federal and/or state criminal charges, including 21 individuals arrested on murder related charges and seven for rape and sexual assault charges. The remaining 280 were arrested on administrative immigration violations. Of the total arrested, 933 were U.S. citizens and 445 were foreign nationals from 21 countries in South and Central America, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.

Numerous state, local and federal law enforcement partners, including ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), participated in the HSI-led operation, which ran March 26 to May 6.

“Gangs threaten the safety of our communities, not just in major metropolitan areas but in our suburbs and rural areas, too,” said ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan. “Gang-related violence and criminal activity present an ongoing challenge for law enforcement everywhere. Our efforts to dismantle gangs are much more effective in areas where partnership with local law enforcement is strongest.

'ICE arrests 1378 illegal aliens this weekend".....Better pick up the pace.. Using a little rudimentary math, at the rate ICE is going, it take 180 years to deport em' all. And that's with no new ones coming in,and total cooperation from immigration judges

ICE Keep up the good work now that your hands are untied. I pray for your safety while getting these unwanted criminals in jail and or out of the Country. Making America great again and a Nation of Laws.

Way to go ICE. We knew that our Border Patrol & Ice could and would do the job as soon as obama was out of the picture. But now we need repercussions if those deported come right back, something like the "Kate's Law" that was suggested last year but the gutless congress refused to pass.

Hey! Know where to send them. To the sanctuary cities where they will be welcomed with open arms so they can conduct their business preying on the law-abiding citizens.Maybe some these rioters will put them up in their homes and save the taxpayers prison costs.

1378 down and over 100,000 to go! What happened to the claim that foreigners commit less crimes than citizens. Just over 30% of the total arrested were foreigners! Back to the drawing board to whip up another lie to spew on the American public huh?

It's amazing what any law enforcement can do when the boss takes the shackles off of them & lets them actually do their job!

Great job ICE now have a micro chip put in them and then monitor them!! When they are caught coming back across then zap them with 400 volts!! They will be done enough that the coyotes can eat them!!

Not bad; now round up about 1300,000,000 more and now we have a good start for making America "CLEAN AGAIN.

We don't have one billion three hundred million people?

We can build this wall without federal funding. I'd invest in a bond issue for the returns in the saving from our nation.
President Trump's team is brilliant and building the Border Wall will be the smartest and greatest investment ever made by the USA government.!!! Forget repayment by Mexico and ignore a tax. Besides the carnage from drug pouring in, look at these costs.
1] The 2011 Martin & Ruark "The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on US Taxpayers" "estimates the annual costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local level to be about $113 Billion; nearly $29 Billion at the federal level and $84 Billion at the state and local level”.
Today’s and future costs are significantly greater.
2] The $113 Billion did not include the cost of humans and illicit drugs trafficking, lost citizen’s wages, the society’s drug users and crime victims nor positive benefit factors as less crime from repeat deported criminals, safer streets and communities.
3] The recent MIT and the anti-Trump Washington Post’s fact checker estimated the wall cost could be as high as $25 to $41 Billion for the entire border length.
4] Reducing the annual costs by 10%, the worse-case Wall Cost would be repaid within 2 to 4 years !!!
5] When did any government (or any financial adviser) make an investment with a 25% to 50% return within the first year followed by that annuity for life?
6] It would be just a bonus if Mexico made any repayment
7] Even I would invest in a limited 5% bond to be repaid in within 10 years from the above savings. That bond issue would generate too much money if made available.

Gene Waldenmaier, I like yer thinking. I too believe the savings at fed and state
levels would pay for the wall in a very short time span. If you could actually make
an investment opportunity out of the project...wow.

The problem I have with the wall is it only does half the job when you look at El Chapo walls would not hold him he tunneled everywhere. The drug cartels do the same thing. They have an elaborate tunnel system and build them quickly. They have vent systems lighting and even motor bikes so the don't have to walk. I would rather spend all that money on law enforcement officers and needed equipment. Satellites and drones can keep an eye on those digging on the Mexican side. Infra -red cameras ro detect body heat etc.
Blackhawks ;-)

The wall will be state of the art, besides of the obvious upper structure surveylence equipment which would include overhead drones the bottom section of the wall will be several feet into the ground so as to prevent tunneling beneath it and that bottom section will include sensors that would detect any activity or tunneling that may occur.

Great job you're doing ICE!!! The more I hear of your work? Including our men and women in blue! The safer I feel!

This just shows that we need secure borders to keep the illegals and their drugs out of the United States!

This is an excellent beginning. As a respondent said, "Microchip them." Absolutely! If they re-enter the US illegally, put them on a chain gang for 30 years and deport them at the end of their sentence. If they re-enter yet again, execution is in order. Have Joe Arapio run the Federal Prison for these mooks!

Bada-beep, bada-bop, bada-boop!

Problem solved.
