iPhone X pricing, features vs. iPhone 8 and 8 Plus: Which is better for you?

Written by  USA Today

On Tuesday, Apple unveiled not one, but three smartphones during an event held at the Steve Jobs Theater on its new campus in Cupertino, Calif.

All three phones — iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X — will run iOS 11, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system.

But which to choose? It comes down to price, size and whether you really, really need to communicate in animated emojis.

iPhone 8. The 64GB model starts at $699, while the 256GB model is $849.

iPhone 8 Plus. The 64GB model starts at $799, and the 256GB model is $949.

iPhone X. The 64GB model starts at $999, and the 256GB model is $1,149.

Screen size

iPhone 8. 4.7-inch retina display.

iPhone 8 Plus. 5.5-inch retina display.

iPhone X. 5.8-inch 'super retina' display.

Key features

iPhone 8. It boasts an all-glass design, support for wireless charging (available through a charging mat purchased separately), the A11 Bionic chip that's about 25% faster than the iPhone 7.

iPhone 8 Plus. The big step up here is the larger screen with sharper resolution as well as the dual cameras. There's also Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting to enhance portrait style photos.

iPhone X. The screen is larger than the 8 Plus, yet the overall body of the phone is about the same as the 8.
