The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, has recently been widely praised for his COVID-19 crisis daily briefings, yet, nevertheless, the politician faces hard times reputation wise. As we know, the politics of New York's are Democratic-dominated and favor the corrupt - like most recently the decades long leader of the State House Sheldon Silver who was just convicted of corruption in 2018, all the way back to the corrupt Tammany Hall days. Liberal New York has always had a love of the corrupt.

Presumably, the most important scandal of the day used for flogging the relatively moderate Cuomo (considering the AOC spectrum) over recent sexual harassment charges belongs to the AOC lead left as well as an ill advised hiding of deaths in Nursing Homes caused by his own policies which has seen some of his most loyal followers remain silent but also distant from Cuomo for optical reasons.

According to the reports of national media, Cuomo has been spotted kissing someone on the cheek at a wedding party. Still, the audience doesn’t follow the lead and is not yet ready to denounce the governor. For instance, last week, The Washington Post published an article titled ‘Andrew Cuomo is plummeting, and there's no one left to catch him,’ and according to Morning Consult poll 75% of New York Democrats approve of Cuomo, along with 53% of overall New York voters.

Even if the mentioned allegations were true, some of Andrew Cuomo’s behaviour might be called a bit inappropriate, probably, even creepy, but not more than that. Among the accusations is, for example, cupping a woman's face with his hands or calling a woman beautiful in Italian. The worst and most concerning claim, which was made by an anonymous person, was that he groped a woman.

Notably, the actions of the left here demonstrate their desire to get rid of Andrew Cuomo, who is a truly outstanding Democrat and doesn’t hesitate to sometimes reject woke orthodoxy. Even though the politician denounced the supposed murder of George Floyd, he opposed calls from the left to "defund the police" and was extremely disturbed with the disrespect shown to law enforcement. Cuomo said: "The police are doing an impossible job.”

Andrew Cuomo's work on possible removal of the cap on deductions for state and local taxes have drawn the displeasure of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others from the left camp. On their opinion, since over half the state and local taxes deduction benefits go to households with income in the top 1%, the cap is nothing more than a handy way to tax the rich.

Even though, raising taxes on upper-income Americans seems reasonable, this particular one was aimed only at rich residents of high-tax states and cities, which tend to be liberal. It is a blue-state tax intended to pay for part of the Republicans' 2017 tax cuts. And these local governments rely on their taxpayers. Notably, the highest-earning 1% of New York residents accounted for almost 43% of the total income tax collected by the city.

Due to voters, the far left didn’t manage to get rid of Andrew Cuomo. In 2018 the Working Families Party chose actress Cynthia Nixon (from "Sex and the City") to compete with Cuomo in the Democratic governor's primary. Cuomo beat her by 30 percentage points, and these were Democrats voting. Now the Working Families Party wants Cuomo to resign over the sexual harassment allegations.

One more though-promoting detail, the outbursts of woke passions over seemingly minor infractions has put the more serious charges – that the governor covered the actual number of COVID-19 deaths and, early on, sent some COVID patients to nursing homes, where they infected others – toward the bottom of complaints, receiving significant attention of the media.

Andrew Cuomo says that he most definitely intends to run for the fourth term in 2022. And in case the continuing attacks on him include such frivolous objections as his obtaining a coronavirus test when testing was harder to come by, along with getting his mother and brother tested, too – there could well be a backlash against the pileup. How can Andrew Cuomo be rescued here? The answer is: by his voters, of course which in New York, tend to vote for the corrupt.
