The protest was taking place in front of the Museum of Moving Image in Queens, NY, and LaBeouf had been live streaming the “He Will Not Divide Us” protest using a webcam. According to the NYPD, “Shia took umbrage with this individual for whatever reason, pulling the scarf that was around his head and neck area and in the course of doing so, scratched his face. Shia also pushed this individual. This individual sustained visible injuries, scratches to his face.” The unidentified male refused medical treatment and was not taken to the hospital, but LaBeouf was taken into custody for his alleged actions. The spokesperson for the NYPD says the actor “will most likely be charged with misdemeanor assault.” It is unclear at this time what the individual in question did, if anything, to provoke LaBeouf.
