In a recent revelation, Jeff Zeleny, CNN's Chief National Correspondent, disclosed that the primary concern of voters is President Joe Biden's economic management, not his campaign's focus on the media coverage of former President Donald Trump.

This comes as the RealClearPolling average of polls indicates a slight lead for Trump over Biden in a national head-to-head matchup. The lead expands to 2.9% when independent candidates Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., along with Green Party candidate Jill Stein, are factored in.

According to the Daily Caller, Zeleny questioned the rationale behind the Biden campaign's decision to invest resources in highlighting Trump's May 30 conviction on 34 felony counts of falsification of business records by a Manhattan jury. "A lot of surveys after the Trump trial showed that it barely moved the needle at all," Zeleny stated, emphasizing that inflation and the economy are the primary concerns of voters.

Zeleny further elaborated on the contrasting strategies of the two campaigns. "The Biden campaign is using Trump’s convictions to make the argument that he is unacceptable. Trump is using his own convictions to make the argument that he is the victim of this big persecution," he said. However, he noted that the economy remains the top issue for voters, suggesting that these campaign tactics are unlikely to significantly influence the election outcome.

The RealClearPolling average revealed a mere 40% approval rating for Biden's handling of the economy, with only 35.5% of respondents giving him positive feedback on inflation. Zeleny pointed out that in the era of Trump, who is adept at leveraging the media, the Biden campaign is pushing back more aggressively than in any of the seven presidential campaigns he has covered.

Zeleny also shed light on the Biden campaign's ongoing disputes with the media. "They are trying to game the refs here. They do it all the time, trying to point out that you‘re not being fair here so some of it is just the advent of social media," he said. However, he questioned whether voters are genuinely concerned about these issues.

Drawing on his interactions with voters in swing states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, Zeleny expressed skepticism about the impact of media coverage on voters' perceptions. "They are living their lives, get us a better economy, bring down inflation as opposed to tweeting out about something you said or I said on TV," he concluded, highlighting the voters' focus on practical issues over media disputes.
