New York City was looking for some alternative plans related to what it could do to manage the influx of migrants sent to its doorstep recently.

However, according to Fox News reporting, a new approach by the city is going differently than city officials would have hoped.

The plan was to send some of these migrants to upstate New York. However, cities and towns in that area have received a temporary restraining order against that happening.

The plan was to use two hotels in Orange Lake and Orangeburg to house as many as 300 migrants seeking asylum and the ability to live in the United States without deportation.

However, there was plenty of pushback against this proposal, leading to delays in its implementation.

A spokesperson for Mayor Erik Adams reported that the city had initially devised this plan. However, they admitted that no migrants had been moved into the two hotels in Orange Lake and Orangeburg as of this moment, according to the Associated Press.

However, when migrants did arrive in the area on Thursday, local officials were surprised and caught off guard.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said the following in an official statement on the matter:

“Last night, [both] the State and City assured the Town of Newburgh and Orange County that no buses with asylum seekers would be here until further notice. The process has been a disorganized disaster, [and] the blame lies with the Mayor of New York, who originally opened the door for as many undocumented immigrants as possible to his self-proclaimed sanctuary city and the Governor. She has sat back and done nothing as this crisis has negatively impacted New York State.”

He added the following in the statement:

“The New York State Police; the Orange County Sheriff’s Office; the Supervisor of the Town of Newburgh; and his police department were not notified that these buses would be arriving today. Sadly, we have learned that you cannot trust the word of New York City’s Mayor and the leadership of New York.”

Other local officials accused New York politicians of doing the same thing as southern Republican Governors. In other words, they accused them of simply shifting migrants around when it became uncomfortable to house and care for them.

During a news conference, Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny said, “It was a sneak attack in the dark of night.”

The Rockland County Supreme Court backed up the restraining order and issued it against Adams for sending migrants to the Armoni Inn before resolving it in court.
