In a recent incident that has gained widespread attention, Emory University professor Caroline Fohlin was arrested following an altercation with the police during a protest at the university.

The incident, which was captured on video, has sparked a debate about the limits of free speech and the responsibilities of those in positions of authority.

As reported by RedState, Fohlin was seen in the video being taken down and handcuffed by the police amidst a heated confrontation between law enforcement and pro-Hamas demonstrators. During the scuffle, Fohlin can be heard asserting her professional status, exclaiming, "I'm a professor," seemingly under the impression that her academic position would grant her immunity from arrest.

However, she was soon disabused of this notion.

The video footage reveals the tumultuous arrest of Professor Fohlin as she resisted the police officers' attempts to detain her, all the while reiterating her professional identity, "I'm a professor. I'm a professor of Economics."

Following the incident, Fohlin was charged with simple battery of a police officer. This development sparked outrage among far-left activists who argued that Fohlin had not committed any wrongdoing and was being penalized for exercising her right to free speech.

However, a subsequent video released shows Fohlin being led away by the police, during which she admits to hitting a police officer and attempting to interfere with an arrest. This practice, known as "de-arresting," has become a common tactic among protesters seeking to obstruct the police in their duties.

In the video, Fohlin admits, "I possibly hit him on the head very lightly to get his attention, and they grabbed me, threw me to the ground, and arrested me."

The incident raises significant questions about the perceived entitlement of those in positions of authority. Fohlin's belief that her status as a professor would shield her from the consequences of assaulting a police officer is a stark reminder of the disconnect that can exist between academia and the realities of the law. Despite repeated requests to comply with the officers' instructions, Fohlin chose to resist, leading to her forceful arrest.

The incident serves as a stark reminder that no one, regardless of their professional status, is above the law. The rules of the real world apply to everyone, and Fohlin is learning this lesson in a very public and potentially damaging way.
