Jonathon Jones, the driver in question, reportedly veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a catastrophic collision.
The incident occurred on June 21, when Jones, a resident of Luttrell, was driving his Nissan Sentra along Raccoon Valley Road. Court records indicate that he crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a Ford Expedition. Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, finding five individuals injured and promptly transporting them to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Among the injured was Jones' wife, 28-year-old Casandra Jones, who was the sole passenger in his vehicle. Tragically, both Casandra and her unborn child were pronounced dead by officials, as per court records. Virginia Brooks, another victim of the crash, succumbed to her injuries the following morning. The remaining victims, including the accused, are expected to recover from their injuries.

Jones now faces serious charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, improper passing, and three counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication. Authorities revealed that during their interaction with Jones in the hospital, he admitted to daily marijuana use. Witnesses at the scene also reported that Jones had been driving recklessly, overtaking other vehicles on a double yellow line prior to the crash.

Casandra leaves behind her husband, parents Chad and Christine Fritts, brother Cain Fritts Wallace, and grandparents Dwaine and Brenda Fritts, Gary and Susie Wallace. Her obituary describes her as a "beautiful girl loved by everyone" who will be "dearly missed."
