In the wake of Anderson's death, which the police have not deemed suspicious, federal prosecutors have sought to dismiss the indictment, as reported by WMUR 9. Anderson was indicted by the government in December 2023 on three counts of transmitting a threat through interstate commerce. Each charge carried a maximum sentence of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.

The identities of the candidates Anderson allegedly threatened were not disclosed by the federal prosecutors at the time of the indictment. However, a spokesperson for Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign claimed that they were the recipients of the threatening texts, according to the Daily Caller.

Court documents revealed that Anderson allegedly sent similar threatening texts to two other campaigns. One such document included a screenshot of a text threatening a mass shooting at a campaign event for Chris Christie. Nikki Haley was also named as a candidate who received threats.
