Billionaire entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks co-owner Mark Cuban has expressed his disappointment in the debate performance of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Despite his critique, Cuban has indicated his support for the Democratic nominee, whether it remains Biden or a potential substitute.

In a recent post on the social media platform X, Cuban characterized Biden as "Feeble, Capable and Ethical" and Trump as "Vigorous, Unethical and Incapable of telling the truth." Despite his critique of Biden's performance, Cuban affirmed his preference for ethical leadership, stating he would "vote ethical every time."

The debate, facilitated by CNN, marked the first of this election cycle, with a second slated for September, just two months ahead of Election Day. The race between Biden and Trump remains neck-and-neck. As reported by Newsweek, national poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight shows Trump leading Biden by a slim margin of 0.3 points as of Friday afternoon.

Cuban expressed his belief that Biden struggled to effectively debate Trump, who he accused of constant dishonesty. He stated, "Joe wasn't capable last night of debating someone who only lies. He doesn't have the energy or ability to shout him down, hold him accountable and laugh at Trump's responses."

Cuban criticized Trump for making false claims about the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot, his environmental record, abortion, and the economy. Biden, who made misleading statements about insulin pricing, Trump's COVID-19 comments, and military deaths, was perceived as delivering stumbling and incoherent responses.

Cuban did not spare Trump from his critique, stating, "There is no way you could listen to Donald last night and come away feeling confident that Trump has the ability to go deeper than his practiced soundbites. He repeated himself often and never directly answered the moderator's questions."

He further criticized Trump's evasive responses about the January 6 incident and election acceptance, stating, "His non-answers about J6 and election acceptance should scare every American about his interest in upholding his oath to the constitution."

Despite Trump's repeated claims of a stolen 2020 presidential election, he eventually conceded that he would accept the results of the 2024 election "if it's a fair and legal and good election."

Cuban expressed confidence in Biden's ability to perform the duties of the presidency, based on his three-plus years in office. However, he cautioned that "this election is not about policies. It's about soundbites, social media and who delivers them better and the algorithms that deliver them to voters."

Cuban acknowledged Trump's superior skills in soundbites and marketing, and expressed openness to the idea of replacing Biden and/or Vice President Kamala Harris. This comes as Biden's debate performance has reportedly sparked panic within the Democratic Party, leading to discussions about potential replacements.

Despite the ongoing discussions, Cuban affirmed his support for Biden, stating, "But if that doesn't happen, I'm still voting for Biden, the ethical candidate who unquestionably stands by his oath and puts country over self-interest." His post has since been viewed by over 8.4 million users.

The debate performance and ensuing reactions underscore the high stakes of the upcoming election, as well as the importance of ethical leadership and effective communication in shaping public opinion.
