In the wake of a less-than-stellar debate performance against Donald Trump, President Joe Biden's entire family convened at Camp David to deliberate on his political future.

The White House and campaign staff attributed Biden's low and occasionally incoherent speaking voice to a "cold." However, some insiders suggest that this is now the President's daily demeanor, leading even Democrats to question whether Biden should be replaced before the November elections as his poll numbers continue to lag behind Trump's.

According to the Daily Mail, Biden's wife, Dr. Jill Biden, has often been seen as the one person who could influence the President's decision. However, this time, it was Biden's son, Hunter, who was the most vocal advocate for his father. Despite his notorious reputation for his wild lifestyle and his recent conviction on three criminal charges in a high-profile gun and drugs trial, Hunter has emerged as the most fervent member of the Biden family insisting that his father stay in the race.

The New York Times reports that Hunter, who has always advised his father despite his personal troubles, does not want the country to perceive his father as the "stumbling, aging" man who appeared at Thursday's debate. Instead, he wants America to see his father as he does, "scrappy and in command of the facts." The rest of the Biden family offered their support and brainstormed ways to assist the President if he decided to continue his campaign, including having the President's grandchildren engage with influencers on social media.

Despite the mounting pressure from Democrats to reconsider his political future following his disastrous debate performance, Joe Biden appears to remain steadfast in the race, with Jill Biden staunchly supporting him. Her actions over the past 48 hours indicate that she is the primary influence over her husband’s decision to stay in the race. Speaking to wealthy donors in New York on Friday night, she acknowledged the perception of the debate but asserted that the campaign would continue.

"So let's talk about last night's debate, because I know it's on your minds." she said. "As Joe said earlier today, he's not a young man. And you know, after last night's debate, he said, 'You know, Jill, I don't know what happened. I didn't feel that great.' And I said, 'Look, Joe, we are not going to let 90 minutes define the four years that you've been President.'"

Biden's performance on CNN, where he seemed to lose his train of thought and meander through answers, sparked an unprecedented panic within the party. Top lawmakers and operatives immediately began considering their options. However, Biden's demeanor at a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday was markedly different. He admitted his debate performance was subpar but insisted he would remain in the race, a declaration met with cheers from the crowd of more than 2,000.

Jill Biden, despite acknowledging her husband's poor performance at the first presidential debate, remains steadfastly by his side, pushing back against fears of a loss to Donald Trump in November. A source close to her told DailyMail.com that while the Bidens acknowledge the first debate did not go well, they firmly believe he is the best candidate for President, now and for the next four years.

"She’s his wife of 47 years; she is his biggest supporter, biggest champion, and biggest believer," the source said.

President Biden, 81, has secured the nomination. The only way for the party to have a different nominee is for him to voluntarily exit the race. However, following Thursday's debacle, the President appears to be fighting an uphill battle. A poll released Sunday shows that 72 percent of voters do not believe Biden has the cognitive faculties for another term in office, a seven percent increase from the same poll taken earlier in June before the debate.

Former White House physician Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) has repeatedly questioned Biden's cognitive and physical health. He suggested that the seven-day debate prep at Camp David was a ploy to get the drug cocktail just right before the showdown with Trump. Doubts about Biden's mental acuity and cognitive health increased following the debate.

Biden's lackluster performance in the debate with Trump, characterized by low speech, mumbling, and loss of train of thought, led to a chorus of calls for him to end his candidacy – even from some of his biggest supporters. In contrast, Trump's debate performance has only bolstered his party's support.

Fifty percent of registered voters believe the 78-year-old Trump has the cognitive faculties to run for a second term in 2024 – only 27 percent feel the same about Biden. As the future of the race hangs in the balance, Biden is spending his Sunday at Camp David discussing his next steps with his family. Some critics, including Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wy.), have accused First Lady Jill Biden of 'elder abuse' for encouraging her husband to continue his reelection campaign.
