In a recent exchange on CNN, host John Berman challenged the assertion made by Democratic Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz that only the "elites" are concerned about President Joe Biden's debate performance.

The debate in question, which took place last Thursday, saw Biden's speech marked by a raspy voice and a tendency to trail off, sparking concerns about his age and fitness for office.

According to WND, Wasserman-Schultz attempted to downplay these concerns on "CNN News Central," suggesting that they were only shared by the "elites" and not the average American citizen. However, Berman disagreed with this assessment, stating, “I just don’t think that’s true, congresswoman … I just think that anyone who was anywhere this weekend, talking to anybody, the subject of discussion was the debate and was President Biden’s performance. I don’t think that that discussion is only members of Congress."

In response to Berman's rebuttal, Wasserman-Schultz clarified her definition of "elites," stating, "There are certainly a greater breadth of how I would define elites. I mean my constituents at home, voters across this country, are not going to be focused on what The New York Times or what the Atlanta Journal-Constitution talks about. They’re not focused on what the political elites are hand-wringing about."

The Florida Representative went on to emphasize that her constituents are more concerned with tangible issues that directly affect their lives, such as inflation and job security. She praised President Biden for his efforts to combat these issues, citing the Chips and Science Act as an example of his commitment to reshoring American jobs.

Wasserman-Schultz also took the opportunity to criticize former President Donald Trump, accusing him of attempting to overturn the results of a legitimate election and populating his administration with unethical individuals. She stated, “They want to make sure we have a president who is going to have their back, not give the American people the back of his hand, which is what Donald Trump did over and over again.”

In her closing remarks, the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman urged her party to focus on the upcoming election rather than dwelling on Biden's debate performance. She said, “And at the end of the day, we gotta stop. We don’t have time for this this hand-wringing. We have less than five months to an election. We have less than two months to the convention. We need to double down on organization right now, not on worrying about what happened during a 90 minute debate.”
