A revered educational figure, George Stepp, met a tragic end in a shocking accident at a McDonald's outlet in Texas, as reported by the police.

The 81-year-old was fatally struck by a vehicle reversing out of a parking spot.

According to The Independent, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday at a McDonald's in Lewisville, Texas. A red Toyota truck, while backing out, suddenly accelerated, hitting Stepp as he was exiting the fast-food establishment. The authorities declared him dead at the scene.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. One line of inquiry is whether the driver of the truck experienced a medical emergency, causing the abrupt acceleration. At this stage, it remains uncertain whether any charges will be filed in relation to the incident.

Stepp was a respected figure in the field of education, having dedicated 27 years of his life to Fairfax School in Virginia. His tenure at the school included a period from 1996 to 2007 as superintendent. Beyond his administrative role, Stepp also contributed as a teacher.

A graduate of Morehead State University, Stepp furthered his education by attending a doctoral program at Vanderbilt University. His commitment to education and the impact he made were evident in the tributes paid to him.

"George Stepp was a big man with a big, big heart and an amazing school superintendent,” said former Fairfax school board member Janie Miller. “He cared deeply about our school children, teachers, and staff. He was committed to excellence and the best opportunities for ALL our kiddos. He is gone but will not be forgotten."

Jeff Platenberg, the current superintendent of Fairfax schools, also lauded Stepp's contributions. “His vision and dedication were instrumental in renovating all our City schools and the successful consolidation of our elementary schools,” Platenberg stated. “His legacy of commitment to educational excellence will continue to inspire us and benefit our community for future generations.”
