This six-episode limited series will feature David in a starring role, with co-writing contributions from Jeff Schaffer, who previously served as the showrunner and director for David's projects.
As reported by Breitbart, the Obamas will take on the role of executive producers through their company, Higher Ground Productions. Amy Gravitt, executive vice president and head of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Programming, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “It’s hard to remember a time before ‘Curb,’ or without Larry David’s perspective on modern life. We’re thrilled that Larry is coming back to HBO, this time with Higher Ground, to give us a glimpse at our shared history as we celebrate our Semiquincentennial.”

While the specific topics of this historical series remain under wraps, it has been noted that several familiar guest stars will make appearances. In a lighthearted comment, the former president quipped, “I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David.”

David and the former president share a history of golfing together on Martha’s Vineyard. However, David's career has not been without controversy. In April, he faced criticism from left-wing HBO host Bill Maher for allegedly making offensive remarks about Maher's visit to the Trump White House.
Additionally, David drew ire for an incident involving the beloved puppet Elmo during a previous appearance.
