Employees at the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence firms are pouring political money into Democratic coffers, raising fresh concerns about ideological capture inside an industry that is rapidly reshaping American life and public debate.

According to Western Journal, staff at Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta and Elon Musk’s xAI collectively steered more than $2.02 million to Democratic candidates and committees in the second quarter of 2026, while Republicans received just $274,000 over the same period. Federal Election Commission records for April 1 through June 30, 2026, show OpenAI employees gave exclusively to Democrats, while workers at Google, Meta, Anthropic and xAI also displayed a pronounced tilt toward the left in their political giving.

OpenAI staff directed 100 percent of their roughly $71,000 in individual contributions and about $225,000 in political action committee donations to Democrat-aligned entities in Q2 2026, with nothing going to Republican groups, according to FEC filings. Of that sum, $200,000 came in a single donation to DreamNYC, a super PAC that backed Democratic New York State Assemblyman Alex Bores — “a prominent advocate of AI regulation” — in his unsuccessful 2026 bid for the U.S. House, according to the group’s website.

The pattern is striking given that, in 2025, OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman and his wife personally gave a combined $25 million to the pro-Trump super PAC Maga Inc, the New York Times reported. That earlier high-profile gift to a conservative cause now stands in sharp contrast to the overwhelmingly Democratic direction of OpenAI employee money in the most recent quarter.

Google employees, whose company dominates online search and digital advertising, contributed more than $608,000 in Q2, with 72.4 percent going to Democrats and a mere 1.8 percent to Republicans, FEC data show. Meta staff, working at the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, sent over 65 percent of their $245,000 total to Democrats, while Republicans received a comparatively higher but still minority share of 22 percent, though it remains unclear how much of this came from personnel specifically tied to AI divisions.

OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta each did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment. Their silence leaves unanswered why, in a sector that claims to value neutrality and fairness, political giving among employees is so lopsided in favor of one party.

Anthropic, a rising AI safety and research firm, emerged as the single largest donor base to both parties, with staff giving roughly $1,616,000 overall in Q2. Of that amount, 68.8 percent went to Democrats and 12.9 percent to Republicans, according to FEC records, meaning the company’s Republican-directed gifts were about 19 times larger than Google’s and roughly four times Meta’s.

One Anthropic researcher, Daniel Ziegler, personally contributed $500,000 to DreamNYC, FEC filings show. His single donation accounted for approximately 31 percent of all Anthropic employee giving during the quarter, underscoring how a small number of well-paid technologists can exert outsized political influence.

“AnthroPAC, Anthropic’s employee-funded political action committee, brought in more than $275k in Q2 — more than similar PACs from tech giants like Google and Amazon have raised in recent quarters,” Politico’s Jacob Wendler said in a post on X. “Contributions [from AnthroPAC] were 55/45 split R to D.”

By contrast, employees of xAI, the company behind Musk’s Grok chatbot, gave only $1,641 in total during Q2 2026, with $1,041 going to Democrats and a single $600 donation to a Republican. The modest sums still show a Democratic edge, but the scale is negligible compared with the millions flowing from rival AI giants into left-leaning political networks.

“Grok is the most politically neutral and objectively truth-seeking AI,” Elon Musk claimed in a post on X. Musk cited a study by The Neutrality Project, which posed political survey questions to various AI models and ranked Grok 4.5 as the most neutral system, assigning it a near-zero ideological score of -0.02.

Models from other major AI companies ranked further to the left in that analysis, suggesting a systemic ideological skew in mainstream AI tools. OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna scored -0.46, Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 came in at -0.48, Meta’s Llama 3.3 70B registered -0.55 and Google’s Gemma 3 27B scored -0.56, according to the study, reinforcing conservative concerns that the same companies bankrolling Democrats are also building the algorithms that will mediate political information for millions of Americans.
