According to Fox News, the American Principles Project (APP) has published a report that unveils the staggering growth of the transgender "medicine" industry. The report estimates that the total revenues for transgender drugs and surgeries in 2023 could surpass $4.4 billion, a figure that could potentially escalate to over $7.8 billion by 2030.
Terry Schilling, the President of APP, expressed his organization's deep-seated concerns about the transgender agenda, particularly its impact on children. "We know that there are obvious physical and psychological consequences to it, but we wanted to figure out why the industry was growing so much, why such a small population was getting so much attention and media, you know, favorable attention in our cultural arena, and we figured out very quickly that there's a lot of money here," Schilling told Fox News Digital.

The report details the potential costs associated with lifelong use of cross-sex hormones and surgical transitions, which could amount to $300,000 and $150,000 respectively. Furthermore, it highlights the potential adverse effects of transition surgery, such as cancer, nerve damage, chronic pain, sexual dysfunction, and mental health issues, which could lead to additional medical expenses.

The report also provides insights into the financial gains of transgender surgery providers and pharmaceutical companies. Institutions like Cedars Sinai, the Regents of the University of Michigan, and the Mount Sinai Health System are believed to have generated over $100 million in revenue in 2022 from transgender surgeries. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and AbbVie reportedly earned $74 million and $51 million, respectively.

Schilling expressed his bewilderment at the continued promotion of these procedures despite their known side effects. "I like to think that most human beings are normally good, and they don't want to cause harm to people. So what would push people into these procedures and what would push people into encouraging other people to go through these painful procedures that cause so much dysfunction and harm to them? And it makes a lot more sense when you realize that there are billions and billions of dollars at stake," he told Fox News Digital.

The report reveals that approximately 1.6 million Americans now identify as transgender, including 300,000 individuals between the ages of 13 and 17. The APP, in a press release, stated, "Given the lucrative nature of this industry, it seems likely medical practitioners will continue to recommend and administer these drugs and procedures for as long as they feel safe from liability."

However, the report also warns of a potential reckoning for the industry, as an increasing number of individuals who have detransitioned are emerging, grappling with regret and significant health issues resulting from their transition.
Schilling further shared with Fox News Digital that the estimates in the report are likely conservative. He cited pro-gender transition activists who have claimed that the industry could surpass $200 billion per year, outpacing the film industry.
